Question: wouldn't being hit by a bullet even with body armor still incapacitate or at least stun said wearer of armor?

Recall the North Hollywood shootout. Those guys had body armor on, took several rounds over half an hour of non stop gunfire and weren't even phased by them.

In a country where you can accidentally get a assault rifle delivered to your door from Amazon.com are we seriously supposed to believe a kindergarten teacher bought a Bushmaster .226 rifle? Weird name by the way, must be in honor of Dubya letting the assault weapons ban slip.

I don't know all the variations on these retards, but I'm sure they can use the internet to buy a gun.

Winnipeg girl, 6, among victims

"Ana Marquez-Greene, 6, killed in the shooting in Newtown, Conn. On Friday, Dec. 14, 2012

A Winnipeg girl is among the victims of Friday's shooting rampage in Connecticut.

Ana Marquez-Greene, 6, and her older brother Isaiah attended Linden Christian School in Linden Woods, before moving with their parents to Newtown in July and enrolling at Sandy Hook Elementary School in the fall. Both children were inside the school when the shooter opened fire.

Ana was among the 20 children killed in the mass shooting. Her brother, reportedly a Grade 3 student, escaped without physical harm."

From a Canadian perspective:
Fuck you and your constitutional right to bear arms.

I don't know - we could probably do without the personalization. Especially pics.

And you just used her for THAT purpose? I'm also of the opinion that guns cause more harm than good, but christ man, get a grip.

I'm 100% for getting guns out of the hands of people who aren't responsible enough to do so... but how do you really propose this is done? In CT (where I live, too) all you need to purchase a handgun to: Not be a felon, pass a handgun safety course and apply to your local PD for the permit to do so.

No where in there is any way to "test" people of any mental illness, any mal intent, or really any thing other than, "Can you hit the broad side of a barn with these pistols?" and to check if they are a felon. To buy a hunting rifle or shotgun, you dont need any license of any sort. All it takes is a 2 week waiting period, and to also not be a criminal, and you are good.

More and more we are seeing these young men commit shootings that are "mentally ill", yet there really isn't anything we can do. So... what, we are going to have a mental examination before every gun permit is handed out? Mental evaluations every year by your doctor, and if you show signs or something... then they just lock you up in a home because you might do something?

The real reason all this crap is happening is shitty parenting to go along with a shit society where gun violence, and well, violence in general is as common as waking up in the morning to take a dump. We see it in almost every movie, all sorts of shows on TV and in a lot our video games.

And not to stir the pot here, because I am not trying to be an ass, but why does all the anti gun stiff come out now? Now that innocent kids have been killed. A number I read on CNN, something like 30,000 people are shot every year by guns. Only a very very very small number of those, are tragedies like this. What about all the other days of the year when guns kill? This should be something that people are trying to resolve and make an issue of all the time, not just when terrible things happen. It makes me feel like the people who are lobbying for anti gun laws are just band waggoners using terrible things like this to get their agenda passed. Criminals and unbalanced people will always do terrible acts against law abiding people, whether guns are available to all of us, or none of us. They would use knives, fire or any other things they could, if they were really hell bent on ruining lives.

I'd rather see that than the goddamned idiots who keep going on and on about guns.

I find the people who were already pro gun control before this happened immediately salivating and leaping onto it as their "tipping point" and their time to shine, to be far more disgusting than people who remain calm and measured and don't fly off the handle to try to kneejerk legislate.

My god people are stupid.

Just accept it, you will never, ever stop this sort of thing with rules and regulations. Apparently this school had JUST passed new rules that visitors should have their ID checked. Oh boy, I'm so puzzled as to how that didn't work.

Let's say you ban assault rifles, or you ban all guns. Obviously there are so many out there already you will never round them all up. More will come in illegally from other countries... you'll have gun manufacturers move to Mexico or whatever.

And while the overall number might greatly reduce, what percentage of the guns out there in America will ever end up being used in a mass shooting? 0000000000000.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%

In Switzerland every household is REQUIRED to have an assault rifle. How many mass shootings happening there?

What was still the worst school massacre? 1926? With a bomb? Shall we make all materials that can possibly be assembled into explosives illegal?

Shall we employ a security guard at every elementary school across the nation? How much will that cost? How many schools and school districts are already strained on their budgets?

Let's say this guy knows there's a security guard somewhere in that building. Maybe he stays in the office near the principle until something happens.

Guy comes in a door in the kindergarten wing, how much damage is he able to do before word makes it's way or gunfire is heard and reacted to on the other side of the building? Time enough to kill dozens? You bet your ass.

What if he instead goes straight to where he knows the guard is, and takes him out first? Guard just spent the last 5 years without a single thing happening every day, and is lulled completely. Two people, both with guns, one knows the bullets are about to start flying, the other is chatting with the secretary and hasn't fired his gun in 5 months since his last retraining... and it's nicely buckled into a holster at his side... he's most likely going down.

Just accept it. Shit happens when the country is 300 million and the world is 7 billion. We have instant news about every bad thing in the world, this creates a feeling that it's just bad shit happening constantly... but how many elementary school days have gone by or even yesterday went by... across this nation, since it's birth... how many days and classrooms without a single bullet flying? How many manhours of teaching, where something like this was a complete non-issue?

Just accept it. You can't stop this shit. You will only do more harm by trying.

The only things I can say which might help, is Obama could come out and make a personal appeal to anyone who feels they may do something like this, offer them psychiatric counseling and help.

Also, maybe start having a gun locked up in the principle's office, and maybe another one in the janitor's area. Perhaps one in the gym coach's office as well.

One thing that might help a lot is if the big 24 hour national news people and big websites like Huffington Post came together and made an agreement between them to NOT COVER THESE EVENTS EVER. They could do a lot to help by removing the publicity vortex which acts as a partial motive for many.

You gun nuts are heartless. Some of the deadliest shootings in the US have taken place in the last 5 years. You guys don't care about these victims, you only care about whining about your right to bare arms.

You free speech nuts are heartless. Some of the most offensive porn and meanest comments ever have taken place in the last 5 years. You don't care about the victims of mean, hurtful comments or the people who have to hear ideas they don't agree with... you only care about whining about your right to free speech.

Oh and btw to the person who said that these shooters are always white, no that's incorrect. 20% are black and that's compared to 13% of the population being black. I recently read an article by a black man writing for a black-centric website, who was asking... why don't the media cover black shooters like this more? Great example of this recently at the store where the young black man killed some coworkers after breaking in the front window, Huffington Post did their damnedest to avoid covering that for very long, or showing his picture. Then of course there was the DC Sniper duo, and there have been LOTS of others, but of course in a majority white country the majority of everything will be white.

Oh and to the Canadian with his "fuck your right to bare arms" because one of the kids had at some point lived in Canada (clearly didn't anymore)? What an ass thing to say. As if Canada isn't packed with guns too.

Oh and as for the whole mental health angle?

You think we can just start screening everyone and then taking their rights away when they've done nothing wrong? That sounds right to you?

What will we do, mandatory mental health screening for everyone?

Adults are supposed to be able to accept that "shit happens"

"OMG!!!! I HEARD A GUY DIED AFTER DRINKING 4 MONSTERS IN A ROW, YEA HE HAD HEALTH PROBLEMS BUT... BAN MONSTERS!!!"

"Lady scalded herself at McDonald's! all coffee nationwide should be legally required to be at a maximum temperature of 70 degrees!"

OH god oh god, protect me from the bad people and the nightmares, big mamma government! Hold me, Hold me!

Two things we can be thankful of, at least for the moment.
#1, nukes are not yet available to the general public.
#2, the NRA does not yet protect private ownership of nukes.

But I expect the day will come when both #1 and #2 are no longer the case.

Just look forward to the day breaking news... Omaha nuked off the face of the map by troubled teen.
Troubled teens cause terror, not nukes.

and again the anti's with their ridiculous notions and escalations. what kind of sick demented uninformed mind do you have to have to post drivel like this?

He killed her before the shit went down, took her guns and her car...drove to her workplace and murdered innocent people.

So, it looks like we have a gun nut who doesn't know how to keep her weapons away from her retarded son.

Somebody before said we need to arm the teachers...we'll there was a teacher armed at the school and her son took all her firearms and used them against students.

the teacher was at home, not at the school. the guns were in the home not at the school. you do know teleportation isn't real, right?

I don't have any guns but if I did, would I give them all up to save just one child's life?

Well besides the fact that this could never be a real scenario? I'll entertain it.

Which child? My child? Of course.

A random child in the third world? Nope.

Lots and lots and lots of people die. We have 7 billion people, there are plenty of people. Adult lives matter too, btw.

If the worldwide population was 1000 would I give up anything including my own life for any child? Yep.

That's not our situation. We're doing fine.

Yea, Im sure we aren't considering all the facts in this case. One of those children could have been armed and he was simply acting in self defense.

You gun nuts are heartless. Some of the deadliest shootings in the US have taken place in the last 5 years. You guys don't care about these victims, you only care about whining about your right to bare arms.

His mother owned deadly weapons and she obviously didn't care enough to secure them, her son got a hold of them and killed 26 people.

I guess the only thing you gun nuts can say is "Good Shot!"

we have no facts on how these guns were stored. they could have been in a safe and when he killed her, he got the key/combination. as has been said before, banning guns isn't going to stop this, as evidenced by the knife attack at the school in china.

She didn't necessarily know that her son was going to do that. It's her house, and her son was an adult. How do you ban an adult from keeping weapons in her house with no children around?

btw, I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed now that he used two handguns to kill the children, not an "assault rifle" (which would have been no more fatal).

What is special about 2007? What happened then gun-wise that could have been responsible for these murders?

also the son lived in another state, right?

WHAT!?!?!?!? this post has to be trolling, no one is this ignorant...

amazon doesn't sell guns.
you can't a firearm shipped to your door unless you are an ffl.
there is no bushmaster .226 rifle.
i don't think there is even a .226 caliber
Bushmaster has nothing to do with George Bush (the company was founded in 1973)

the dead bodies will be left in the school for 3 days until the crime scene is processed.

what about decomposition? So sad for the families. Their kids just lying there.

also the son lived in another state, right?

We know Ryan (the brother who didn't do it) is in Hoboken, NJ but not sure if Adam was living there too. Since he had his brother's ID, it's not unlikely.

My question is was the mom supposed to be in school teaching that day? And was there a sub in her place if she wasn't in 30 mins after school started and the shooting began? When I was watching the newscast last night it seemed like they didn't want to touch on the family AT ALL, including the fact that she should've been teaching that day, or if anybody knew of her whereabouts or cared before classes started (without a teacher).

I read this morning that all the bodies have been identified and removed from the scene as of this morning.
