FYI, Mesa is the 3rd largest town in the state (2nd largest suburban community in the country), Mexican is not a language and despite what you may think, English is not the official language of this country.

Someone better inform Historians, the president, and everyone that runs this country - something must be wrong is they happen to think it is.

The United States has no official language.

It may be common practice to speak English but there are no laws prohibiting the use of other languages by the government or businesses.

Since when did that become the deciding factor as to whether it is our official language or not? That's like saying the US Flag is not the "official" flag because it is not against the law to fly a Canadian one outside my front door.

You fail at logic.

Yes, it's quite obvious to the people that live here. Most of the illegals do not have any desire to learn English or mix with the American culture. They wish to turn this into an extension of Mexico but with all the privledges of the USA. My immediate neighbors do not speak English. The kids are very friendly and have broken English but the adults turn away if I greet them.

Over 77% of the population in Mesa is white.

The hispanic population grew 4.8% in the last 6 years.

Some invasion.

You might want to change your title to something more informative so we don't end up with 3 more threads about this... also take it to P&N.

de facto != de jure.

The United States does not have an official language. Why is that so difficult for some people to understand?

Even if the population of ILLEGALS grew by .000001% in the past 50 years, that's still more of an invasion that I'm willing to tolerate.

Before the dust settles in this immigration debate, it may become our national language.

Have you driven down Main St or Broadway in Mesa? Good luck speaking English in any of those shops or neighborhoods.

Question: Suppose the provision that allows illegals to gain citizenship provided they learn english passes. Now those that don't (I can see many of the older illegals not be able to learn), would they be deported? Or for them, would it be status quo? Like, we'd just let them stay illegally?
