I got in out of (probably) pure luck, no Blizzcon key for me. Been a lot of fun so far, but there's so much to learn! The League-based matchmaking seems like it has a lot of potential and really lets you know where you stand and makes you want to try harder.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/02/starcraft-ii-private-beta-testing-has-begun.ars

PC Minimum Requirements:
- Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1/Windows 7
- 2.2 Ghz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor
- 1 GB system RAM/1.5 GB for Vista and Windows 7
- 128 MB NVidia GeForce 6600 GT/ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card
- 1024x768 minimum display resolution
- 4 GB free hard space (Beta)
- Broadband connection
THIS IS BULL SHIT.. Game will not run well at all with those specs. AT ALL

Dual core is A MUSTD:

At the lowest possible graphic settings and resolution, why not? Obviously it won't run it at 1200x1900, but that's not really what the "minimum" in "PC Minimum Requirements" implies now is it?

Wave 2 invites are going out, check your stuff again.

I still didn't get in, anyone who wants to let me use their account in the wee hours of the morning, selling a kidney, have heatware!

I'd share, but I have an authenticator :(

There were only 3k-4k invites for the first wave. Probably 3-4k for the second.

I've never seen the number of users on Bnet 2.0 go beyond 3k. So I'm assuming each wave will probably be less than 5k each.

2nd wave = some noob bashing time.

For those who play Terran. Have you ever lost to a Zerg player with MMM? (Marines, Medivacs, Marauders) * Stimpak'd

I can't counter this combo at all as Zerg. Tried every combo within Tier 1/2.

I haven't tried that combo yet. Does it work against anything else besides zerg?

I murdered a protoss player going dark templar/zeals with mass stimmed marines (and scanner sweep). MMM is a very effective strat if you crank them out fast enough (I had 6 barracks)

Didn't play 1v1 with Terrans yet. It seems that Zergs and Protoss dominate my league (Silver). There are very little Terran players in my league but I get match up with them very often from others. The least being Protoss.

Yeah the TvZ matchup is quite a bit different in SC2. No lurkers, but you got Banelings, Hydras (who do 12 normal and can 4shot marines). No more wraiths/valks, but you got this hybrid Viking thing (which is so-so in either mode). Just from the number of games I've watched now, this matchup has definitely been shifted the other direction (more for Zerg).

No more defilers, true, but there's no firebats or Irradiate now either. Just a Seeker missile from the Raven (which I've seen sparingly used)...

*that said - I've only observed. I wanna fucking play now :D

When used right that seeker missile makes people pay for poor unit placement/bunching.
