You Patriots fans can't decide if you want to go by stats, or wins, or this season, or entire career...you aren't worth my time. In one instance, wins matter, because that's what its all about. In another instance, look at the stats! The stats tell all! Make up your mind.
At this point, I think signs point to Peyton Manning being a better quarterback than Tom Brady. We won't really have an answer for another 5-10 years, because they're really only just entering their primes. What if Harrison retires, and Peyton goes on to win 4 more? What if his QB rating drops to 60 next year? Its too early to tell who will have had the better career. John Elway wasn't considered "a true great" by the pundits until his 16th season, then suddenly he's top 10, maybe even top 5, of all time.
In short, Peyton Manning is a god on the field, Tom Brady sells kittens to shady chinese food restaurants. GO TONY ROMO!
I believe the question is who is the better QB - Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Not who will have the better career, or who will win the most Super Bowls. If that was the case you'd have to look at the team as a whole, and that basically defeats the whole point of the question in the first place.
I see it as who would you pick to be the QB of your team. Right now.
Both are considered greats already, this is not really a question - in fact, I imagine if both their careers ended right now, they would be definite contenders for the Hall-of-Fame.
I base my judgment on stats (and "wins" is actually a stat). And really, current performance by either player this season isn't greatly affecting my opinion. I've posted this before but I seem to get overlooked:
7-0 in overtime. 12-2 in the postseason. 24 game-winning drives to break a tie or take the lead in the fourth quarter or overtime. Six of his game-winning efforts have come in the postseason.
Basically, he wins games. He wins games that matter, and he wins games in any condition. Actually, up until this season, he hasn't been known to blow out opponents. That was something Manning was more noted for. Now that he has this insane receiving corp, he is showing that he is also capable of putting up Manning-like numbers.
Regardless, those numbers are largely irrelevant. Winning games, especially in the 4th quarter, especially in the playoffs, and especially in all weather conditions are what matter.
I find it a bit ironic how we can also argue who is a better kicker - the ex-Colt Vanderjagt or the ex-Patriot Vinatieri. One is the most accurate kicker of all-time. The other has won more games than any other kicker.
And for the record, Phokus is annoying to me as well. Chill out with the massive nested quotes.
