I'm betting you don't listen to vinyl, wear skinny jeans, ride a fixie, shave with a straight razor and have a sleeve tattoo?

Don't even get me started on vinyl... a medium that by pure mechanical limitation can't reproduce the full frequency of percussion instruments correctly, and people are still latched onto it for some reason. Everybody has different hearing loss so what sounds "good" is going to vary from person to person, but vinyl being better at anything is simply horseshit.

Ah, a shot of color makes a difference.
The second one you posted hints at space exploration/astronomy. Face reminds me of a planisphere. Blue background is the sky. Amber dots are celestial bodies. Hands are stylized rockets (use imagination). And the brand name rhymes with "cosmos." Theme could be developed more, but the elements are there.

You sound like an English teacher trying to find meaning in things that were never there:

I like my vinyl. I purchased almost all of it in the 1980s and haven't listened to it much until about a year ago when I found a slightly used turntable and hooked it up. If you've purchased a cd recently they all sound like shit in comparison.

Not to digress too much, but the reason CDs sound worse now has nothing to do with vinyl and all to do with how it's produced. Albums with the exact same modern production put on vinyl would sound just as bad, if not worse. Music back then was produced with more dynamic range, and would still sound just fine on a CD. The problem is you can't find a lot of classic albums on CDs that aren't remastered.

There's a lot of reasons for this, but for starts look here: http://www.npr.org/2009/12/31/122114058/the-loudness-wars-why-music-sounds-worse

I have been looking into a Tag Calibre 1887, I don't have a watch with a brown strap.

That is a very nice watch and I have looked at them but they cost $4000 and they don't hold their value. Plus, I think that a chronograph should have a tachymeter scale on the bezel to help you determine speed.

I wouldn't buy them new, just like when I bought my Rolex in 94. Even used, I have to admit, I am not a fan of the Heuer's prices. I have also been looking at Breitling Navitimers, of course they are way more. In the end, I might not buy any, I have 3 watches already.

This combination is really tempting but it isn't COSC certified. The latest Rolex Daytona is and it has a longer power reserve.

Almost nobody recognizes a good watch and I think I've had one person ever comment on it.
Come on Jules. You and I both know that isn't completely accurate. The average person doesn't pay attention but walk into any business environment and it's noticed... your watch and your shoes. It says a lot about the person.

Same thing happens when you walk into any higher end retail store. The salespeople instantly know who has money and who doesn't.

I figured my car would count more than my shoes. Shit, I've been spending my money on the wrong things! ;)

What do Sperry Topsiders say about me? ;)

Because they are works of art and the height of workmanship.

I know what they are but really when you just drill down they are archaic and inefficient at what they do. A watch should be about accuracy and style. A mechanical brings you neither by being a mechanical. Pretty much any look a mechanical can do a quartz can do. The only thing prettier a mechanical can do is have a neato glass panel on the back so you can see the pretty gears. Whoopdee doo

They just seem like a total waste of money to me, and I appreciate a good looking watch worn on the wrist.

to all the haters....

did you spend more than 20k on a car? that car does the same thing all the other cars do and there are cheaper ones that do the same thing. an old toyota may even work better than whatever you have and paid more for. Did you buy your bride a CZ because its superior and does not have any inclusions? is the ring 18 insted of 24k or maybe just plated.... looks the same and performs the same, so why did you waste your money?

you are all ridiculous.

I'm always shocked at how much importance people place on shoes.

It says a lot. They don't even need to be expensive per se, but condition/cleanliness is key.
