Actually no, at least 50% of ATOT is pissed at you because you refer to you pets in a humanoid way. The other 50% just view rats at vermin and are glad their dead.

Personally, I don't like rats; mice are much cuter.

Sorry to hear about your pet rats. I've been thinking of getting pet rats after catching and releasing a mouse inside my home a couple of years ago. I was worried about having an infestation of mice and went to do research. One thing led to another and I discovered that rats make great pets. Started watching videos of pet rats on YouTube. Unfortunately this means I also see a lot of videos from asshole lizard/snake owners who jerk off and feel like their manhood's bigger whenever they feed live rats to their pets.

Things that I've noticed about pet rats:

1) They actually seem to like us. They're like little dogs in the way they seem to like us. They like to be handled and cuddled by humans.
2) They are the most docile of rodents and very sweet. I rarely see them bite. I see videos where their owners make them dance and they just go along with it. Hamsters have a reputation for being nippy and sometimes mean.

And that's why I hate seeing them served up as food to lizards and snakes. It's like feeding a little dog to a lizard/snake. They are so trusting of us and have such sweet personalities -- it seems a shame they are so hated by many and treated in this way. They deserve better.

They seem like the perfect pet for someone who wants a dog but doesn't have the time nor space for one. They need about 1 hour per day of playtime outside of their cage and you should always get more than one to keep each other company.

The main drawback is that they don't live very long (2 to 3 years maybe) and are prone to tumors and respiratory problems. That's one thing that's holding me back from getting some pet rats. I don't know how I'll handle seeing one die...

Come on people, did you really think he was talking about children?

Sorry about your rats OP. My favorite fish died recently... sad day. I had to watch him die over 3 days.

yeh, i did. call me naive, but people tend to post when they lose a loved one on here. it wouldn't be too far of a reach.

now... is this thread for real or a parody of this one?

if it's not a parody, then OP i'm sorry you lost the rats you loved so much.

My condolences, OP.

To a young person who doesn't have any children, pets do seem like children sometimes. You might not feel the same way after you have "real" kids of your own (or even nieces and nephews). Pets are not the same as children, to those who know what it's like to have both.

In any case, it hurts like hell to lose a pet. And it is horribly inconsiderate to make fun of someone else's pain. "Go to hell" is definitely the most appropriate response.

No shit, what the fuck is wrong with people like this. Check back when you lose an actual family member & see if it compares to losing a rat.
