  • Domestic-born Islamicists (sudden jihad syndrome?)

  • Christian Extremists

  • The Jews!

  • Mexican Drug Lords

  • The Mafia

  • Saddam Hussein's Operatives (the George Bush option)

Ugh.

Okay, so right now it is looking like...Muslim terrorists.

According to some on this board it still qualifies as "half-way" between Islamic terrorism and domestic terrorism. These guys are foreign-born Muslims. There was a poll option for this.

I assume you are referring to me. First I never said "half-way", infact I said its not dead center.

Second, reports said their family came here in 2002-3 and were permanent residents. That qualifies as somewhere in the middle albeit closer to foriegn AQ.

If their family is still here its going to be very interesting when they are questioned.

Foreign born perhaps, but according to the latest updates they've been in the country since 2003 which would make them 9 and 10 at the time, still children and growing up in the USA since their teen years. Sheer speculation on my part but I wonder if they are recently converted "true believers" via Internet jihadist sites...

Well, this was unexpected.

So it does look like Muslim terrorism.

Just like the Times Square bomber.

2 suspects confirmed as brothers.

So the dead one is the remaining suspect's brother. Also he's very young (19~).

He's done. He must be shitting his pants now & mentally panicking.

It always seemed to me that the jihadi angle was the most likely. If people want to stick their head in the sand and refuse to connect the dots in the most logical way, then so be it. Walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... I'm sure many a liberal will be distraught today.

They're Chechens. I have not read anywhere that they are Muslim, though I know many Chechens are. Is there a source for that?

That's what I don't get about so many posters' attitudes towards Islamic terrorism. There is a long history of it. It's not at all surprising. At what point will the pattern become clear to them? What more would it take?

The remaining suspect is a Greater Boston winter all-star wrestling champion & got scholarships to colleges.

A pretty 'normal' kid that blended in.

Yes it is really a simple and obvious trend. If it turns out they did this over video games then so be it but until the it always made the mos sense that these bombers would be similar to previous ones. No great mystery.

Dark hat guy was indeed white or pretty whitish though I got that wrong.

The fact that they are from Chechnya or Dagestan and are terror suspects suggests they would not be Orthodox Russians, even you are probably hoping that's the case. Anyway, if you trust these sources, take a look:

If this is true, comes to America as a kid, immerses himself in American culture but grows up to be a terrorist?? Looks like my assertion is right, it's somewhere in the middle.

Its not as simple as some foriegn terrorist comes over here to wreak havoc. The investigation of his associations here should be telling.

What I've seen suggests they came over recently, so I'm not sure I accept that he came over as a kid. Even if he did, he's still foreign-born and Muslim, which was the exact poll option. Not in the middle.

Why would I be hoping that? I predicted in this very thread that this act was done by Islamic terrorists. Don't be an asshole.

My first post in this thread was:

If I had to guess, my first guess would be a foreign-born Islamic fundamentalist doing this as an act of terror. Not necessarily someone connected to a major terror organization - could be somebody like that guy who tried to bomb Times Square a couple of years ago.

My second guess would be a domestic militia type. The only real reason my mind goes to that is that the bombing happened on tax day.

My third guess would be some lone wacko with no larger political agenda.

just look at the poll, 40% said lone wolf/not on the list. only 25% said something to do with Islam.
Strange considering Islamists are behind the bulk of bombings/terrorist attacks.

So I wonder why so many people have their head in the sand?
What are they reading in the last decade that they haven't figured this out to some degree?
