Good thing you're on the PC so you can make those edits?

Those 'small problems' are only problems on the PC version. Good thing the consoles had a copy that works right WITHOUT having to tweak it yourself.

Only they don't. The FoV is the same on PC and consoles - but only the PC can alter it to something more appropriate. Console doesn't even have mouse support, so obviously mouse smoothing can't need editing. No way to make gamepads suck less, either.

I have been playing for the past week, and its a pretty awesome game. I'm curious, what kind of performance has everyone been getting from the game? I feel like my 4850 should be able to run it on max settings, but I'm getting low fps.

Turn off dynamic shadows. HUGE performance killer. With that off, I run everything max on a 3650.

Just got this yesterday. Running ok with my ancient machine. Didn't read much of anything on this game except that it was Diablo-ish and co-op, got it after trading in Fight Night Round 4 to Best Buy for $27, so kinda got it half-price.

Very fun so far, except for the obvious console-porting and what looks like limited field of view. My weapons suck so far, started with a soldier and made it to level 15.

What's in your 'ancient' machine?

well im playing on my 939 x2 4200 and 2gigs of ram. I used to have a 8800gts 640mb but it died so I added a 4890 1gb overkill yes but fuck it. My system plays everything I throw at it at 1680x1050. I used to update all the time but now I will only update when I feel this thing suffer.

Ohh and I love creamy cranked AA on most games (not this one of course) and high settings.

Just finished my first (and only) playthrough. Wow what a terrible ending.

It sure is a terrible ending, but if you had fun looking for better guns/equipment, give Playthrough 2 a chance. It is a lot better than the first playthrough.

Don't play this game for the story (there isn't one), play it for the loot and for the pew pew pew.

If you're not into looking for better loot, and you don't have friends to play coop, then I suppose you're done. But at least give playthrough 2 a chance, it can really be a challenge at times.

It ran just fine on my computer at 1680x1050 with everything cranked.

E6600 @ 3.0ghz, 4GB, 4870, Vista x64

Wolfdale 8400@3.6, 4gb 800mhz 5.4.4.12,GTS260, Win7

I'm running in at 1920x1200 with everything maxed(this means full AA + Vsync) and getting excellent framerates(50+).

I've been googling around and can't find a decent answer. How well does this game scale graphically? More specifically, will it run (w/out shadows) very well on a 8400m GT equivalent? I don't need AA, or AF really, just good enough at 1440x900.

Wow just got this game today, and I've already played about 6 hours straight or so.......man it's really immersive for some reason, and playing in the dark with skags surrounding me scares me lol. Great game, can't wait to level up and play more single player before I start multiplayer.

The dark really hurts my eyes. The trouble is one can still see distant objects in the dark but my eyes are straining to make them out better.
I have to turn up the brightness or I get a headache.

Love this so far, but getting into a game to begin with is retarded. Most people don't know how to open ports, and I can't be bothered, so 1 in 4 games are joinable.

And connections seem to drop often in the middle of games, especially when loading maps.

I hope they manage to release at least one patch for the PC version before they even bother releasing a DLC, because as much as I do like the game overall the PC version really feels rushed, the thing is that what's lacking are some game-play elements and mechanics that should have been there, but there's not many major "bugs" per se. I am aware that some players around experienced strange bugs, some supposedly game-breaking, but I, for one, perhaps being lucky, haven't had a single obvious bug jump at my face, nor did I get a single freeze, crash or stutter.

Is it possible to keep my character? I haven't gone online yet and I need to reformat... There's savedata under My Games.

Yeah its under

\Documents and Settings\namehere\My Documents\My Games\Borderlands

Id just copy the entire folder to be sure.......

Well until you bother to open ports, you are going to have to deal with this.

How long is the SP gameplay? Does it go all the way to level 50? I just beat Skagzilla, and am a few levels past it. Starting in New Haven. Level 23 or something, having played over 10 hours already. Just curious, as there is no percentage on saved games or anything.

I think it depends on if you want to go ahead and do all the sidequests and whatnot. I myself am are about the same as you, and just beat skagzilla.
