I did that solo a little last night. Got 2 different alien guns and a (green or blue) CR that was better than the one I was using.
 
I'm approaching the Vault now and I'm really hurting gun wise.. level 35 and those protectors have massive shields that take forever to drain. I can kill them in one shot when the shield is gone but my most powerful shock weapon is only 80 dmg. Getting my ass handed to me.

Farm New Haven a bit, the 5 chests there should pop a good weapon for you eventually. Those guardians are real easy if you can destroy their shields, they have no hitpoints at all.
 
I found that the first skag barf pile after the vending machines in Crazy Earl's Scrapyard (on the left, if you're heading towards his shack) always drops rare items (greens/blues and the occasional orange when I was level 25-30).
 
If you can find an Eridian weapon those work very well against them. I found one that was like a wave rifle and it tore right through their shields. I could kill the flying ones in about four shots.

I've found 4 eridian weapons and 3 of them have been total shit 🙁

The one I kept is pretty slick though, and I hope I find some other good ones pretty soon as I'm almost to new haven on the 2nd playthrough.
 
This game is like heroin. I haven't been this addicted to a game since the original Diablo.

60 damage x 12 automatic shotgun FTW (LVL 33 Soldier).
 
I'm a big fan of shotguns as well. I run in and blast things in the head with my shotgun, often killing them in one or two shots. And if things get dicey I go berserk and pound things with incendiary fists. 🙂

I have been having fun with rocket launchers lately as well. I've got a helix launcher doing 550x3, plus x4 incendiary. A lot of time I can fire into a group, then just sit back and watch the damage numbers pour out of several guys as they burn up. Plus I found a combat rifle that works nicely. The damage isn't the highest around at ~180, but it's got a good fire rate and an 81 round mag plus really high accuracy and recoil mods. That makes for a lot of critical hits to the face between reloads.

I'm as far as Krom's Canyon in playthrough two, almost to level 49. Just gotta hit 50 and I'll have 1000 points on this game. I've got three other characters started too of the other classes at various levels, anyone can feel free to invite me, and I can load up whichever character is closest to your level. Addictive game indeed. 🙂
 
Did a couple of solo farm runs in New Haven last night. Got a pretty nice purple CR and finally got my 1st Orange gun. I'm lvl 24 and it's for lvl 25 so not too long till I can try it. The only down side is that it's a sniper rifle. I'm playing soldier and mainly using CR, although I do use a sniper here and there.

I'm currently at lvl 24 closing in on lvl 25 and doing the side missions in New Haven between farming the chests. If you have one that is close let me know. I'm not looking to be rushed / power leveled.
 
I finally got an ammo regen mod for my soldier.. makes the loot drops all but useless except for money now 🙂

Just need a good weapon... tried farming New Haven and came up with nothing useful.

if you jsut do the quests (all the main side quests) you end up being around level 34-36

there is no real need to power level or rush in this game..

they made leveling up not a hassle.

money drops are usless also. u get so much money from selling guns and rewards you will find yourself and the end of the first playthrough with liek 4 million in the bank or so..

unless u die alot.

I hear you. I had a +2 ammo regen that I used in between fights to help from running out, but I found one that is +8 regen and has +% mag size that I'm really enjoying.

What lvl are you?

I completly agree. Between this thread and the one in PC gaming some people like to be power leveled. Just wanted to throw out that's not what I want to do. Just looking for someone close to my lvl and progress to team up to knock out some missions, as I'm trying to do them all in each area.
 
Hopeless, I've got a level 21 soldier working through the Dahl Headlands.

My siren is 5, and I have a hunter around 10 or so.

you'll love the ammo regen. I have a +20% team ammo regen with a +35% team mag size which rocks. I also have a +25% team experience, but I really love my heavy gunner mod which increases my firerate and mag size by 65%. I just tear through people with the combustion hellfire gun. The legendary sniper that I got it badass with it also, 500dmg, 5.0 firerate, x4 lightning and can hold 39 shots per mag with my mod on.

Finally finished the 2nd playthrough and had a great time with the game, but now its MW2 time.

Ok, I'm not too far ahead of you. Just finished the first set of side missions in New Haven that have you go to the cave. Although I could be futher along if I would stop loot farming. 😀

I'll keep an eye out for you if you want to team up. We can work on yours or mine.
 
has anyone tried both the 360 and PS3 version...just wanted to know your thoughts?
i tried them both over the weekend and thought that the put more effort into the 360 version. I know its my opinion of course. Felt like there were alot more jaggies in the ps3 version.

I also have the pc version. and that looks and runs great. but in terms of the console version, anyone play both console versions?
