Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has completed ultimate vault hunter mode in single player? If so, what was it like, and did you get any good drops?

Can you get peralescent weapons at level 50, or do you have to buy the UVH mode that raises the level cap?

yes solo'd it with axton. It was boring and tedious. Basically slag everything then blow it up then repeat.

You can (or could if they patched it out) get good drops by farming doctors orders quest over and over. The loot midgets in the lockers always pop out and they have a good chance of dropping pearls and legendaries.

Don't know if you have to have uvh mode for pearls to drop.

I finished UVHM and enjoyed it. Due to the more difficult enemies, I had to use a different play style which took some getting used to. I had to use more cover and a combination of slag and normal weapons. Got two peralescent weapons to drop, a sniper rifle and a shotgun.

I finished it with a Zer0 and Salvador solo. My Zer0 wasn't super well geared so there were some hairy parts where it got difficult playing a mid range gun build. However, Zer0 is a good character to farm UVHM at lvl 61. UVHM does take a little more patience as enemies take a while to kill (unless you can easily slag) and they can deal a lot of damage to you very quickly.

For my Salvador, it was a little easier, as it was easier to slag things by Gunzerking with a slag off hand weapon.

I finally caved and paid the 5.00 for the UVH mode. Just seemed really pointless to try it without being able to level up. I started it with Axton, going to see how hard it is. I think it would be a lot easier with a gunzerker or online, with one person using slag and another a different kind of elemental weapon. I have a hard time switching weapons fast enough to slag and then use another weapon. I have a rocket launcher that does 40k x 6 and with bonus slag damage. That is about the only thing that seems effective sometimes. My favorite weapons were usually fire and corrosive, and shielded enemies are almost impossible to kill with them.

I started playing this again just recently because I wanted to try the Mechromancer. I got through both regular and TVHM, although the end of TVHM I felt like I was running out of gas. I went with a straight Anarchy build and I was finding that I would get insta-gibbed and lose my Anarchy, making it tedious to get back up to power.

Then last night I got both a Conference Call and a Redundant Fibber (barrel 2) as drops.

Now I am so overpowered it is silly. I don't have a Bee shield (never farmed it) but I can still take down the Warrior in about 60 seconds. And this is starting with zero Anarchy. I hardly even take damage. The dude comes out of the lava and I empty a mag of the CC or the Fibber into his chest. He loses about 20% of his health and retreats. I supposed I could now push on to UVHM, although I have read you need to slag everything at that level and that doesn't sound like much fun.

But I'm having a blast farming the crap out of everything. I think I'm going to try and get a Bee Shield just for completeness. Then maybe I'll try to solo Terramorphous or Pyro Pete.

Has there been an update with harder end game bosses past Jack?

You guys are talking about all these elite gear. I beat Jack with Siren with no significant items, just trash gear.

Each DLC has included an "Invincible" raid boss. Terramorphous was the only Invincible from the Vanilla game.

How many playthroughs did you do for the story? Jack/warrior get more difficult with the second and third (if you have the third) playthrough.

Edit: to clarify, they have larger HP pools and hit harder. The fight stays the same though. Rather easy if you're geared properly. The challenge is in doing raid bosses, but even that wears thin after a while.

Oh there are Diablo-esque restart levels?

lol.

Oh yea, I think I remember now too. I got sick of the game by then.

I have a lvl 41 Zero.

I just got Krieg this week and am up to lvl 10 or so.
Playing sniper for so long, it is really odd to rush into battle. I die quite a bit.
I still find myself sniping for a while, then rushing in with Krieg.

Yeah, watch a YouTube video or two. There are thousands out there.

Watch one of a lvl61 character. They deal hundreds of thousands of damage.
The screen is covered in damage points, elemental effects, etc. It is crazy looking.

Just as an update, I did get that Bee shield. I can solo Terra quite easily now in TVHM. There is one boss out in the Hunting Grounds I cannot solo still. He just bum rushes you it's in a small arena with no cover. Gaige just gets thumped before she can do any damage.

UVHM is absurd as advertised. If you don't slag, you're not going anywhere. I went back to TVHM and farmed a Slagga and that has made the level much more bearable. It bothers me, though, that you essentially NEED a Slagga or play in a group where someone is slagging to get anywhere on this level. I hate it when I have to mold my playstyle to the developer's wishes.

Yeah, I really hated the necessity of slag for reasonable progress in UVHM. Zer0 is one of the classes that doesn't have a good method for slagging other than constantly changing weapons and it took a while to get used to it.

Since I was sick this last week with nothing else really better to do, I broke down and got the Pyscho. Took me quite awhile to adjust, but eventually I settled in on a Hellborn build. Normal was a pain in the ass because I was still learning and making some mistakes, but now I am level 40 in tvhm and its gotten super easy especially after getting a flame of the firehawk sheild.

I started UVHM with Zero as well, but am getting bored and frustrated with it. Just too hard to inflict damage without slagging first, and I hate switching weapons in the middle of a fight, especially since one hit or a cheap grenade thrown with perfect accuracy from across the map can destroy your shield and most of your health. Was really wanting to get to the Wildlife preservation preserve and try to farm some pearl weapons, but not sure it is worth it.

It seems the big problem is that weapon damage doesn't really scale well with the increased number of HP that the enemies get in UVHM. The same goes with shield capacity. It's as though weapon damage increases linearly while the enemy HP increases exponentially. A level 58 weapon is pitiful against a level 60 foe. Hell, even the level 60 weapons are pitiful against a level 60 foe. There are no quick kills. You are expected to survive and pound away through multiple mags to take down anything. With so many enemies having one-shot kill attacks, that can be brutal. With Gaige, it's even tougher as she usually uses Anarchy to buff damage. You need to stay alive and rack up a kill streak to make that effective.

Right now, I'm at level 60 and still using my level 50 Slagga and level 50 Fibber for everything. I guess it goes to show how insane the Fibber damage is that it is vastly superior than any other gun I've found, even though it's only level 50. I can hardly imagine a level 61 Fibber. Then throw in the fact that it can shoot around corners? The Achilles heal of the gun is that you cannot shoot it at enemies above you that are on the ground (it's OK against flyers). You need to hit the ground right in front of their feet to get full effect.

But anyhow, my point is that I'd like to use another weapon some day. As much as I love the Fibber, it's getting boring.

Leveling up Zer0 in UVHM, I had to play much more cautiously than I did in the first two difficulties. As you say, there are so many things that can instantly drop you in FFYL that running into the middle of a group of enemies is usually a deathwish. My usual load out for all of UVHM was an Unkempt Harold (didn't have a dual penetrating one), Slaggah, weapon of appropriate element for the area's enemy weaknesses, and a rocket launcher to get out of FFYL, and transfusion grenades. Used a Cunning/Sniping build, kunai and b0re. At 61, I played mostly melee after I was able to acquire the necessary equipment (melee is a lot of fun), or Cunning/B0re on rare occasions.

The other thing that helped me a lot of starting to use the old Sham shield I had farmed up from BNK3R. Even with only 81% absorb, it helped me survive much better against bandits and hyperion. Skags/stalkers were still a pain in the ass to kill, though, especially rabids.

How do you use melee against bosses though? Seems like you could never get close enough to kill them before they one hit kill you. I know you can use the invisibility with an assassin. but it doesnt last very long.

I know that Law and Order combo is one way. Secondly you can't really be OHKO'd in BL2.
