Nice. I knew holding onto my GMG 20% coupon would pay off. I was going to use it on BF3 Premium if nothing else. I'd much rather use it on Bordlands 2.

Now my problem is between currently addicted to Day Z, having guild wars 2 come out in less than a month and having Bordlands 2 come out less than a month after that I'll probably never get to play any of them because we have a baby due in 6 weeks! I wish these games would have come out 6 months ago. Funny how I haven't played any games at all since BF 3 first came out and now that I finally have something else to take up my time I have these games arriving that I actually want to play.

Probably going to split a 4 pack with some friends with the pre-order discount on Steam.

I think I actually liked the old characters/classes better, at least on the face of things, but I guess that's just aesthetic.

I just hope they do a better job at making the game scale with you and make some of the encounters more difficult, it's a fun game but way too easy in a lot of parts.

Nevermind I just noticed that the GMG does give you the same pre purchase bonus as amazon and steam. Cool.

Heck yeah GMG for the win. Used the code and traded in the free games for a $35 checkout!

Liked it for about a day or 2 then it just got old. I couldn't finish it if i tried. Not going for second release. Too painful.

Before the game comes out, I gotta decide what caption I want to use when I inevitably post a photo with me opening the super, awesome Loot Chest Edition on whatever social media site I have access to! I'm thinking that I'll use Lilith's "Mine... mine... aaaaall mine!" :awe:

A snipe rifle though? C'mon, you gotta go with the Combustion Hellfire... it's just too darned good to ignore. Well... unless you're fighting a Pyro or a Fire Skagg... that tends to not work so hot! That's what the Double I-Like-To-Waste-Bullets Anarchy is for though! ;)

Have you heard about the furor that was raised over a recent discussion with one of the Gearbox developers when he was talking about the upcoming Mechromancer? Apparently, they want to make one of the Mechromancer's skill trees a "noob tree" that is good for people that aren't great at gaming; however, the developer referred to it as "the girlfriend tree" in his explanation of why they're doing it. Needless to say, people took offense to his example.

I'm perturbed that they would even include a tree like that. It's my assumption that a "noob tree" would probably have some ridiculously powerful talents in it, and any modest gamer simply cannot ignore a good talent. So, unless you simply want to play the character in a different fashion (one of the other trees), you'll end up getting the good talents from the noob tree. I don't want that! I want nice, balanced trees that are designed around adjusting to different playstyles. "Noob" isn't a playstyle! :|

EDIT:

To note, there's currently a promotion going on where if you buy nVidia's new GeForce GTX 660Ti, you get a copy of Borderlands 2 for free.

girlfriend tree??? WTF.

hey, i usually suck using sniper rifles, as anyone who has ever gamed with me on a fps can attest to, so let me have my moment!!! i play Lilith, so normally i run with an smg with elemental damage ofc, but i like to keep my options open ya know, so i carry different weapons. last night i was just on the mark with the rifle. plus, my buddy i was running with never got a very high level toon, so we are both only level 22 or 23 i think. havent gotten a lot of ultra super mega awesome gunzzzzz.

If I remember correctly, he gave an example of how a guy may have a girlfriend who enjoys playing games with him, but isn't very good at them. The tree would be good for players who aren't that good at FPS games or games in general. Going along with the example, he referred to it as the "girlfriend tree".

Much outrage was had. People calling Gearbox sexist. Pitchford tweeting that they were taking it too far. People saying Pitchford was taking it too lightly. Pitchford saying you could call it a boyfriend tree too! People saying Pitchford needed to just stop while he was ahead! :D

I guuuuuuessss I can let it slide this once! :colbert:

Do you normally have an issue with finding good sniper rifles? That's the biggest problem for me in Borderlands as anything below maybe... 97% accuracy is pretty much a waste of inventory space. 96% is somewhat usable, but anything below that just isn't accurate from a large enough distance. Most of my best sniper rifles are between 98% and 99% accuracy.

I am quite excited about this, but will not be playing for quite some time due to that "other" game :p

besides....havent' been able to play BL 1 since stupidly agreeing to install that data-tracking package from gearbox, which completely screwed my game. Everyone offered great tips and instructions on how to remove it...but I just couldn't be bothered to put that much effort into a game I had finished several times.

Of course...I saved my characters and will be nuked that Hard Drive soon enough, and reinstalling a far more selective series of Steam Games (example--I finally bought Deus X HR back in February? January?...and have yet to install it :p)

tbh, i suck so bad at using them i pretty much avoid even looking at them, hahahaha. the dude i was playing with is really low key about whether i am 'good' at the game tho, so we just get guns and go crazy! ;)
i wouldn't normally have a sniper rifle at all. but, the one i was using last night i think is like 96.something % accuracy. if i recall correctly, it might even be a really low level rifle too.

I bought the first one on a whim for around 10 bucks a couple years ago. I went in blind, knowing very little about the game and was amazed. I plunked a ton of time into it and had a blast. Cant wait to play the second one

Probably will pre-order a few days before it's released on Steam, but I'm betting it will be like a Fallout New Vegas sequel... good, but just alot more of the same.

I'd love to eat my words if they fixed the biggest problem - end game. Fun to play, but the game could be one of the greatest ever with a strong Diablo-like loot system that kept you and your friends out looking for goodies (and not just for gun/shield/grenade - need more items).
