Preorder bonuses at Amazon and Gameslop but not from Steam itself :(

I prefer to buy directly from Steam, but I guess Amazon will work.

if it's digital download from Amazon, then it shouldn't matter. You will still need Steam.

or rather--it doesn't matter at all. Any PC copy will need steam.

That is why its on sale at amazon before steam, so amazon can get a piece of the sales pie.

Give borderlands 2 a couple of weeks for places like amazon to make some money, and then it will go on sale at steam.

this looks like a lot of fun, just like the first one was. had a blast playing co-op, going to have to get it i think. :D

on a side note, i have now played the song from that trailer about 2035346334534 times in a row.

I'm guessing that the pre-order bonus premier club thing will go in at all sellers. I'll probably wait to see if GMG has some crazy deal on it as they're typically the cheapest for a lot of pre-orders.

What's one more! :p

lol, same here. Plus, I'm spending way too much time trying to figure out how work "Joy puke your face off" into an every day conversation.

Any idea if you are suppose to make a new character or do you just import your character from the first one?

I agree with the guy above. Although I'm definitely going to pick this up at some point I thought the enemies looked a little too bland and similar to the first. The big boss monster was kind of neat though. I really liked the giant boss in Serious Sam. Would be great in Borderlands.

The gun system didn't really make sense in the first game. You could basically use any gun with any class and still do well with it. I'd like to see something more along the lines of what they have in Killing Floor where using guns for your class is more effective than using non class weapons.

Hopefully the missions are more interesting too.

Does this game use the same engine as the first game?

Wikipedia has this in the article:

Like the first game, Borderlands 2 is being developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, running on Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3.

I'm not sure if it's valid given there's no source provided, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it's a very similar engine that's been tweaked a bit.

So, they published a "letter from Claptrap" today to us PC gamers:

http://www.borderlands2.com/loveletter

The gist is that we'll be getting:
FOV Slider
100% Mouse Usable Menus / Mouse Wheel Scrolling
Remappable binds
PC Specific UI
Native multiplayer matching (no more Gamespy!)
Push to Talk (but in voice chat I assume)
Logitech keyboard support
LAN support (including offline mode)
control pad support
integrated v-sync option
support for higher resolutions (they don't say it, but maybe this means eyefinity?)
mouse smoothing options (can be disabled completely)
Steam Cloud save support
Steam Achievement support
Steam Friends list support

Can not wait to preorder. My most anticipated game of 2012 easily. I don't preorder much. But I easily sank 150 hours into the first one. So Gearbox has earned my preorder.

I thought my ~220 hours was bad. :p Although, I was a bit sad when I fired it up the other day and ran into the dreaded 100% processor use bug. :(

Did you have mods installed? For me it was the shader file(s) added for the hub that triggered that. Supposedly you can keep the hub and just remove those files but I forget whether I did that.

Yeah, just delete the nv whatever file, it works.
