Man, this game continues to surprise and amaze me. It's freaking
HUGE!

There are so many areas and levels in this game, and none of them are small. And the draw distances are amazing when using the ultra high setting.
The only thing about this game that I dislike is that the engine has very poor support for modern multicore processors. The Unreal Engine 3.5 with DX9 isn't robust enough to handle the visual spectacles in this game at maxed settings; especially once you turn PhysX on. The game can easily suffer from running into draw call limitations due to having all of the rendering on one core. This invariably ends up causing GPU performance to suffer, as the GPU isn't being fed data fast enough.
After many hours of play testing though, I've managed to finally get the game to play smooth for about 90% of the time with PhysX turned on at high setting. I feel like it's a major accomplishment, given that the game itself is against me.
I ended up using these ini tweaks:
PhysXGpuHeapSize=256
PhysXMeshCacheSize=16
[MemoryBudgets]
AnimationMB=32
AudioMB=16
CodeMB=64
LevelObjectsMB=16
TerrainMB=16
GameDataMB=16
MaterialMB=16
ParticleMB=16
PhysicsMB=32
ScaleformMB=32
ShadersMB=32
SkelMeshMB=16
StaticMeshMB=32
TextureMB=256
Like I said they helped a lot, so if you're having issues running PhysX, I highly recommend trying them out. The game is intolerably bland without PhysX imo. Or maybe it's because once you play the game with PhysX on, it's hard to play with it off.
On another note, my Commando just hit level 23, and his turret is now firing out rockets. Honestly, as a new player to this game, it's hard for me to imagine the other classes being as efficient as Axton when it comes to destroying enemies. The turret is so awesome when leveled up
And it's not even halfway leveled up yet! How do the other classes compare to Axton in terms of efficiency?
