Siren is a better assassin than Zero imo
I find it difficult to adjust without phaselock--picking up those shielded Nomads made my life easier for sure.
Those shielded nomads can be a pain in the butt, especially if you're facing 3, 4, or 5+ of them at the same time like you do in Fink's Slaughterhouse.
That said, they move slow, and are easy targets for 'nades. I've found Tesla grenades are especially vicious at melting just about everything, except of course the lightning-infused nomads. Otherwise, one toss will take out however many nomads are within their lightning radius, or at least give you multiple opportunities when the nomads drop their shields and you can get in crit shots then.
Zer0 the Assassin's melee is the highest damage attack in the game. You have to stack certain trees in order & use a relic & COM and +200% Rapier during action skill. It's capable of 1.5 billion damage in a single attack. Registers on screen as a 999,999K Critical hit.

yeah, that's what I have been doing with zero now--using grenades a lot more than before. I find that a nice explosion behind them will get them to drop the shield so that I can get some shots in on their noggin.
Fire proc, at least at lower levels in NM, works if you aim at their toes.![]()
yes, it seems siren is best if you want to go sniper, even though assassin has an entire tree for sniper rifle. Siren's damage output is very high.
I am liking assassin now, though (Siren at level 35, Zero at 15). If you want to do the mele stealthy build, then Zero is super fun. It is a high level build, though. I find it difficult to adjust without phaselock--picking up those shielded Nomads made my life easier for sure.
Are any of you playing this game on Windows 8 64? I can't keep the game from CTDing. I was so excited to finally get Axton's slag turrets (which own faces by the way).
Second, do you guys get hitches a temporary freezes when playing multiplayer? It seems network related and not fps related as my singleplayer fps is well into the 60's. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Not using Win 8, but I do know it is a known issue that the game pauses or freezes when loading textures sometimes, even with powerful hardware. This is really noticeable when you warp into Sanctuary. Not sure if that is what you mean, but it is a known issue.

Phaselock is a great power, but unfortunately doesn't work against the bosses and some of the other powerful ememies, when you need it the most. The classes seem pretty well balanced though, each one has strengths and weakness, and none seem really that much better than the others, depending on a persons playstyle. I really miss the siren's power in the first game though, to go invisible and heal simultaneously.
I thought the Siren was neat until I watched my buddy on his Mechromancer just demolish 5 badasses with his pet during 1 spin attack. Totally jealous now of how OP that class is at clearing waves of trash.
I don't get the fun talent that chains phaselock reliably until I'm nearly 30
Siren's actually bad ass with close range weapons too due to phaselock and her scorn....ew Slag. Shotguns work awesome with this combo...so does the Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold which i just got a couple weeks ago and havn't unequipped.
Add sustenance and restoration for healing yourself and your comrades and she's a bad mofo...
yeah...I still primarily use SMG, mainly because I am so conditioned to it with the BL1 Siren. I wish there was even more weapon specialization in this game, or trait trees that pushed you in that direction (revolver for Hunter and SMG for Siren, assault rifle for Commando in BL1).
I still use sniper rifle a lot, because I just have a habit of taking things in when I approach and picking off whatever I can. I'm not as into these shotguns as I was in BL1.
I pretty much just use whatever works well. I've mostly switched between Assault Rifles -- You can actually use them in this game!!-- and SMGs. I do use Sniper Rifles when I have a good distance to work with. I also have some ridiculously powerful Vladof fully-automatic pistols that seem to out-damage almost anything else similar to them.
I'm at level 35 on Siren, and haven't really been focusing on the middle healing tree. At early levels I went with motion because I like the damage reflection, but I'm not sure if I will stick with it. At this point, I really only like a handful of traits in cataclysm (whatever I can unlock to get to Ruin) and Motion, but can't see how I want to focus that build.

ya...I didn't focus as much on the middle tree in my first play through (solo) but after going coop in TVHM, the middle tree grants such huuuge health bonuses to you and your allies...it seems like a must.
I never really even looked at the first tree.....I guess I figured I wanted I wanted to max 2 trees out and kinda choose the last 2. Do you any skills you like in the motion Tree?
I actually think Assault Rifles suck in this game compared to BL1. In BL1 assault rifles often had really high accuracy, like 92+, where in this game they're mostly in the 80's, especially if they're full autos. Do you not remember the Ogre from BL1? Or especially the Atlas Ogre; that thing was nuts! (I never got one, but I saw it in action) It seems most pistols in BL2 are equal to or better than Assault Rifles, usually rivaling their accuracy, with comparable damage, faster reload speeds, and the only thing they sometimes come up short in is magazine size.
I've only found 2 oranges in my ~200 hours playing BL2. I found one near the end of the game, a lvl 27 KerBlaster (which mostly sucks IMO), and then I got a slag Conference Call when killing The Warrior the one time I have done that. Kinda sucks too, having slag on the CC, as I'd much rather slag with another weapon and have the CC able to take advantage of the slag.
