Well, I've beaten the main storyline twice and finished the DLC last night. I've done a little farming but not much.

We really, really need higher level caps and MOAR CONTENT!!

It's a sin for them to not release the mod tools once all the DLCs have been released but I'm sure they won't.

anyone ever done mighty morphin? It's a level 13 quest. It's asking me to use some sort of injector, but I haven't a clue where/how to get it and it's not pinging anything on my map!

He actually hands you that injector right as you start the quest. Just beat a varkid until it becomes a pod, then go up and hit use on the pod.

I went and killed a bunch of varkids (the flying/crawling monsters in the tundra) and nothing happened.

Don't kill them. Just run around and wait until one of them starts to morph into a pod. You do not need to damage them to make them start to morph.

ahhh, okay. how long does that take? There pecking at me will eventually kill me, haha.

If I remember correctly, you have to set them on fire without killing them. Then they will turn into a big red pod. Run up to the pod and hit 'E'.

I might be wrong but don't they give you a mission weapon with a fire attribute?

Let me tell you what I've noticed now that I'm in True Vault Hunter mode. I literally sat there during play-through 1 letting Badass Varkids chase me around for 5-10 minutes, because I wanted to fight a Super Badass Varkid, but it would never morph. In True Vault Hunter mode, that isn't the case, as they seem to be much more likely to morph between any of the states. In fact, varkids would normally morph from larvae to adult easily within the first 30 seconds.

What I'm getting at is that morphing in play-through 1 is very slow. I usually just shoot them a little bit, but avoid killing them.

It's a sin for them to not release the mod tools once all the DLCs have been released but I'm sure they won't.

What mod tools? Borderlands 1 never had any official tools. WillowTree 2 is already in the works though.

When you mentioned super BA varkids, i was thinking man wait till you see a Super BA Fire Thresher.

Something is even worse than a Super Badass Varkid? :'(

Just spend some time in one of the arena fights, thats where I went when I needed to grind out some levels. It wasn't that bad at all, you'll get one or two levels fairly quickly. Or do some sides that give out eridium or green rewards (in case you were saving the others for level 50).

I don't think I have any available to me yet as I don't believe Fink's opens up until after you get back to Sanctuary.

I was thinking that I would just go to The Fridge and kill stuff for awhile. I have to avoid the Crystalisks though, because they kill me too. :\ I'm still not 100% sure what their close range attack is (it seems to be them... ahem... humping the ground), but it really hurts. Anyway, I can kill rats easily enough, and with no Anarchy, I can just snipe them.

Also is this on your maya or gaige?

Gaige. The worst part about it is that if you die once, you're screwed because you lose all of your Anarchy. :p

EDIT:

That's the story mission that you do at the same time. Unfortunately, I think it's the only mission that requires you to use an incendiary weapon that doesn't give one to you. The Clan Wars quest does give you a Tinderbox.

this is one of the few quests that I really had trouble with. pretty much didnt die until this quest, then i died at least 3-4 times to it. the mutated varkids nuked my shield in one hit pretty much every time. I ended up having to kill them via sniper rifle after I respawned.

They are pretty much harder than Badasses but have the abilities of Badasses. It's easier to do after you wake up Mordecai because he will Slag them, which doubles your damage.

Just 2 or 3 Super Badass Varkids can give 4 level 50's problems. They just seem to take hardly any damage at all.

Eventually one will turn into Vermivorous the Invicible but I have yet to see it happen.

Here are the Halloween skin codes for the PC:

Axton: KT53J-36HBK-W6JJ3-BJJB3-WH95H
Salvador: CTK3J-9XH3W-CRB3J-33TBJ-9JJHW
Maya: WTKBJ-XRHTW-C63BT-JTB33-J6C9T
Zer0: 5J5JB-B9S35-W6J33-3BJBT-33JSF
Gaige: W3WBJ-C6ZB5-C6JJT-33JJB-JSFX6

They're all bee related, which is kind of odd, but eh... it works. :p

Grinded my way from 39 to 41 (went through Fridge, Outwash and Caustic Caverns), got 300 stacks of Anarchy, and I still died. :\ I was being a little too brash, and staying too close to the boss. All subsequent times, I kept moving away and bunny hopping (to avoid his hentai tentacles), which is how I take care of the smaller threshers too. However as I expected, it's just ridiculous how little damage you do without the Anarchy stacks, which meant any other time was practically worthless. I'll have to get to 300 stacks again the next time, which means I might as well just go farm another level or two.

EDIT:

I guess what kind of confuses me about it is how ridiculously easy Wilhelm was in comparison. He died within a minute (including him running away from me :p), and I don't think he even took out my shield once!

You may not want to take advantage of this but here is an option...

You know... I remember saying to myself, "Just go to the Golden Chest when you get to 40. It'll be a nice treat for being halfway to the cap (given True Vault Hunter Mode usually starts at 30), but then I realized... I can't actually get to Sanctuary yet. :'(

I was considering going back to a 400 stack maximum (I'm at 300 right now) for the boss. The difference between 400 and that video's 600 stack is only 7x vs. 10.5x, which doesn't seem too large. I guess I need to find a rocket launcher too! :p

The mutated varkids always gave me trouble in both play throughs as Zer0. Their crit zones are difficult to hit when they're in the air and they deal a lot of damage, which is bad news for a low shield/health and crit dependent character.

So, I was running through the Caustic Caverns a few minutes ago, just working on some levels, getting some money, and stealin' some loots when Gaige says, "Watch out! There's a badass!" My initial reaction, "Sweet! More EXP!"

...then I saw a FIERY EMBODIMENT OF DOOOOOOM rise from the ground!

Yes, I ran into a Super Badass Pire Thresher, and I most definitely cheesed it to death. Thankfully, they are incapable of going through caves... and so are their attacks!

EDIT:

I finally killed the Gluttonous Thresher! :'(

300 stacks of Anarchy + a few epic Shotgun blasts to the face + 1 level over it = dead!

Lucky for you there was a cave to hide in.

I have real bad experiences with those things.

About the only thing thats more annoying are the loot chest midgets, specially in coop. Always seems like the one of the group is low on ammo, runs off to open a random chest and bam, down they go, rest of group has to backtrack to revive and waste even more ammo killing the damn thing.

Since I have the talent that lets you keep Deathtrap alive longer (+5 seconds per kill), I've been having fun doing speed runs through zones with ol' trappy to see how long I can keep him up. My highest so far was 116 stacks of the melee buff in the Caustic Caverns, and that's be cause I ran out of stuff to kill. :'( Not doing side quests definitely helps a bit as I ran through the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve rather quickly... until I died to a Super Badass Loader that was hiding under a large shelf thing near the end... that sneaky bastard.

That ended up making Bloodwing take three tries to kill, which makes me realize something. I still have no idea what some enemy attacks actually do. For example, on Bloodwing... is there even a way to avoid some of her attacks? Mordecai yells, "She's diving!", and I run like a bird with my head blown off :)biggrin:), but I still get hit. I mean... I played WoW for a long time, so I'm used to reacting to stuff, but it never seems to work in this game, and most boss fights don't have much to hide behind.

I also never knew that Skaggs spawned during that fight. I actually just kept running around and left them alive so if I ever hit Fight For Your Life, I could just kill one quickly. If one ever became too much of a pain, I might kill it, but that was it.

Lucky for you there was a cave to hide in.

Yeah, I didn't even think about it at first. I ran through the cave because I was running away from the damned thing as I had almost died two or three times!

I decided to turn and shoot a bit after I got through the cave, and I noticed it wasn't able to burrow any further than the cave.

I don't mind them too much on Gaige if I have a high enough Anarchy stack since I need to be close enough anyway, but they can be a big pain on any other character since you may need to run away as their damage output is pretty high.

I've gotten so I only open chests when DeathTrap is ready to go or still up -- that way if a midget pops out I can hit F and not end up fighting for my life :)

I'm playing with just the health regen from BFF and the elemental tree, so I'm fairly weak on my own. I like to snipe so Anarchy is not my cup of tea.

It kind of stinks in PT1 that many of the tough fights have enemies resistant to shock and fire, since that's most of my bonuses except for the +10% chance to corrode. I'm looking forward to being able to charge up DT with the elemental type of my choice in PT2.

Gaige has been the only character that I've played in Playthrough 2, so I'm not sure how others fair, but I can't imagine not having an Anarchy spec. Every time I die and have to rebuild the stacks (note: I use a sniper rifle until about 150 stacks), it just feels like I'm barely dealing any damage to enemies. I don't mind feeling weak, but I expend so much ammo that it just doesn't seem viable. :\

re: pt2

Just guessing, but I think Axton is the easiest overall, followed by Maya.

Gaige is probably in the middle

Salvador and Zero can be difficult

From personal experience I struggled with brawn salvador, but had a much easier time with harmony maya. Haven't taken the other three into tvhm, but it's just a guess based on others experiences that I've read.

Of course, this based on playstyle, gear and build choices.

I'll give in and try that if I can't handle PT2 with elemental, but I'm hoping the slag skill I've almost reached + giving DT elemental damage will make it playable.

In PT 1 I can get through most of the trash enemies without summoning DT, except when I get swarmed and can't run away.

There are two problems that I am assuming might arise from that play style:

1) Deathtrap doesn't always melee. If I remember correctly, that ability that you're referring to applies an element to your melee attack. Obviously, Deathtrap uses his electric laser thing on flying enemies, but I've found that he sometimes will use it against other enemies such as Threshers. Threshers can be one of the deadlier enemies, which makes his laser default a rather poor performer.

2) You can't keep Deathtrap up. This will be alleviated once you get the talent, but even then, you'll be stuck on bosses waiting for him to come off cooldown. I imagine that you'll pretty much require a cooldown relic to reduce the 60 second cooldown (note: cooldown relic, not overdrive cooldown relic).

Sometimes, Deathtrap's uncontrollable nature can actually be the worst part about him. When I was banging my head against the wall known as the Gluttonous Thresher, during a few of the attempts, Deathtrap kept going after the Hyperion Loaders instead of trying to get the Thresher's attention off of me. That wasn't terribly helpful.
