There's nothing in BL1 that's worth playing after BL2. There's no story to really catch up on, and almost everything was an improvement in BL2. Some people don't like the change in some classes but that's just because they were used to the old way. IMO people who think the first is better just remember it fondly because it was fresh and new. BL2 is very much more of the same so the honeymoon was over, so to speak.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the same situation as the op; I bought BL2 without playing the first and was wondering if it's worth playing BL1.

Right now, I'm at level 30 so I assume I'm a little over halfway done. After I beat the game, Dishonered will be out and I'll be playing that. After that comes Walking Dead Episode 4. Once I finished that I planned on playing BL1 (assuming I can snag it for 75% off) but am considering skipping it and just replaying BL2 with a new class and getting into multi. So is the general concensus that a replay of BL2 is better than playing BL1 for the first time?

I loved BL1, played it to death on my Xbox and then on PC. Having said that, BL2 is so much better it's not worth going back to BL1. The story in BL2 is greatly improved, the game is funnier, more engaging and coherent (though so many random WTFs you get to laugh on plenty of occasions).

If anything, playing BL1 made me appreciate the characters from the first game you meet in the second game - I hate Jack with a passion and can't wait to stuff him full of bullets (did not finish the campaign yet, so no spoilers please!). You won't get that since you're already playing the second game with the better story (BL1 didn't really have a story to speak of...).

I guess I too will be skipping the 1st one based on the helpful comments.

I think many people are playing BL2 over again - for the 2nd and even 3rd time - because you are supposed to get better loot, and the enemies become more difficult. But I don't know how much fun continual loot collecting would be, since it's not like you can pit your character against other human players to see who is more leet.

But it seems like Gearbox is really going to milk the DLCs this time so it should help with the replayability. They are coming out with a new mech pet character soon for free for those who preordered. However, for those who didn't preorder, they're going to charge $10... lol

Can you imagine them coming out with even more new characters, and charging $10 a piece?

QFT. I got bored of running around in BL1 with nothing to break the monotony. In BL2, even when running (or driving) around on some of the more boring side quests (which are optional so I'm not complaining), the game is filled with hysterical dialog, characters, and references (e.g., I love the sign on some of the outhouses: "Dook hut. No fapping."). As discussed a few pages up, even the enemies are hysterical, whether they're kicking your ass or noting how delicious they smell when you set them on fire.

You're interest in the first game may depend on why you play the sequel. The first game may not be as good in some aspects, but it still has the same zany amount of guns (it actually has more guns than the sequel). If you're like me and just run through stuff to run through it, then the game might be appealing.

I just can't believe how much thought went into every single name/mission. I was doing the 'Hungry like a scag' quest yesterday while my wife was on her iPad. She looks up and says oh that's just like the 80's song (hungry like the wolf by duran duran). Another mission was 'If you give a scag a [something i forget], which is just like the children's book 'if you give a mouse a cookie'.

I love all the stuff like that, just makes the game pop that much more for me.

Can't you melee each other to start a duel?

Is the Do No Harm mission broken? It's checked off and I've talked to Tannis but no reward and I assume it leads to other missions.
I'm a completist and it's bugging the hell out of me.

Yup, basically if you talk to Tannis at the wrong point it won't trigger a cut scene and then the quest becomes deadlocked. It's been acknowledged and theres a fix in testing but who knows when they will push out a patch for it. Annoying me as well and wish they'd hurry up with it.

Ok has anyone done this or can confirm this?

I've heard after you've beaten the game, you can go back to Claptraps place, grab something out of the fireplace, then you have to walk (no fast travel, cars, or dying) to eridium blight, or wherever that giant volcano is and make your way to the top and put it on some pedestal or something. Then some eagle flies over and drops three chests which have a good chance of being purples.

Haven't tried it myself yet, just asking.

In a word: yes. But you can drive. You just can't fast travel or die. Behold: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk3MMu1_8fg

Any other 50's?
If so what class and what type of weapon you prefer using most the time?

I farm so much and vendor so much, I rather see it find a good home, I've been giving a fair amount of stuff to AKWolverine that are upgrades for him.

I use SMG's (I keep a few sniper rifles and a launcher or two for stuff but that is it). I have a corrosive, fire, and electric one that are between 6800-7000 dmg. I'm looking for better ones. Wolverine had a nice one to give to me but a bug made it fall through the floor at sanctuary sadly lol :(

Anyways, list what you guys are looking for (anything, nades, artifacts, class mods, shields, weapons) with what properties and if I come across it you can have it since I have no use for cash (have like 16m now) and I farm a fair amount trying to get better weapons/legendary ones.

best easter egg ever...but what does it mean to play in "true vault hunter mode?" Is that just another way of saying single player?

True Vault Hunter mode is the mode that is unlocked once you first beat the game and where you start NG+

Am I the only one who finds True Vault Hunter mode to be a bit of a misnomer and/or silly idea? In a RPG-style game the concept of the game being "harder" loses all sense; the enemy mobs are only harder in that they're higher in level, but so is the player. How is that actually harder? It's not like this is Super Mario Bros. where the player is kept the same while the rest of the world is made more challenging.

I didn't think that there was actually a New Game+, but it was just that once you beat the game, everything is automatically scaled to your level and will automatically adjust even if you level up. To note, there are some parts of the game that will always adjust to your level such as the various arenas.

In other words, that would make True Vault Hunter mode the same thing as when you beat Knoxx in play-through 2 in Borderlands 1.

Well, it is jokingly called play-through 2.5. :p I do think it is a little silly, but I think that Gearbox also realizes that players typically out-level content in Borderlands. That usually leads to the content being simpler than it should be. Also, True Vault Hunter mode may also do things such as spawn more badass mobs, which would be a genuine method of ramping up difficulty. I know play-through 2 in Borderlands 1 did that.

Not 50 yet (almost), but I use 3 sniper rifles (fire, acid, shock) and a pistol (prefer acid but anything with ele dmg works) and a deadly sniper mod. If you have anything you really don't want I'll take it :D Hoping to farm Terramorphus for the legendary class mod once I hit 50.

50 here.

Gear depends a lot on what I'm doing. If I'm farming bosses, I use the bee shield and a double-up maggie revolver. I'd probably be better off with a conference call, but I can be bothered to grind one out when I'm already a walking apocalypse.

For general adventuring, it's a trick-shot maggie (better zoom and accuracy then the double-up), and a purple Jakobs sniper with 26k damage.

AFAIK, Terramorphus doesn't drop that - Vermivorous does.

All of the mods are dropped by Terramorphus, hence the "Slayer of Terramorphus" titles. For example:

(this one is bugged, as Inconceivable is a Gunzerker skill, not an Assassin skill)

Those aren't the legendary class mods though. There are class mods that are actually called "Legenday Siren", "Legendary Soldier", "Legendary Hunter".

There are some enemies that are unique to TVHM, such as armored maniacs, juggernaughts, etc. Plus there are more badass mobs. Not to mention increased health and damage multipliers for the mobs. After TVHM is playthrough 2.5 where everything is scaled to level 50. At that point its mostly about farming, since everything that drops should be level 50 weapons.

Does anyone actually like Physx? I don't think I've tried it in a game before BL2 (and I don't actually know if having an AMD card makes a difference) but it wrecked my FPS and it looked absolutely horrible. It was like everything exploded into little pieces of torn up paper, really didn't like it at all.
