Title: The War of the Worlds
Author: H.G. Wells
Genre:Science Fiction

Impressions: I had never read anything by H.G. Wells before, and had only seen the movie based on The War of the Worlds. I must say, for having been written back in 1896, it is amazing how well it has aged. Some science fiction authors ruin any chance of their book having any reading value in the future by dating it with too many pop culture references from the time (like the book Hard Drive). PC users that want a laugh at the expense of Mac users ought to read that one, though.

Anyway, while The War of the Worlds does not quite mesh with what we know about science now, it is definitely an interesting read, and once you have read it, its influences in modern science fiction become immediately evident.

Title: Black Holes and Time Warps: Einstein's Outrageous Legacy
Author: Kip Thorne
Genre: Non-fiction

It's probably the best book I've read. He bounces around a lot chonologically though.

Rereading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King in anticipation of Wolves of the Calla. I'm about halfway through Wizard and Glass.

The Goodkind series are worth the read.
I just finished the last of the Mithgar series (Black Wolf, Silver Falcon) by Dennis McKiernan. Not the best, but my library has a limited selection of fantasy books.
