Bombs away!

I wonder if Obama will be like Bush Sr.?
Didn't Bush bomb targets in Libya just hours before Clinton took over? I remember him say something like I'm still President. A pretty epic moment.

This strike actually made me want to create a thread a thread about the current state of ISIS and the actions taken to date to weed them out. With the incoming administration it would be interested to see where everyone stands on the current state as a gauge for how things progress moving forward.

It seems right now that the current admin has been very effective with dwindling ISIS down and, in cooperation with Iraqi forces, have pushed them back and greatly reduced their territory.

Surprised to see the OP cheering something Obama did.
Usually when something like this happens the far right will state it was done without his knowledge or against his wishes... don't believe me? Have a look at sites like freerepublic. I haven't looked but I guarantee if this story is there that is the line they will be parroting.

In order to carry out the mission, the B-2 bombers flew a long-round trip mission from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.

huh i wonder if that really necessary? there's gotta be a crapload of us military resources in the mediterranean

Don't fool yourself. Those bombs dropped themselves due to policies suggested by the incoming POTUS.
That's beyond absurd. Let's say that it's found out that 25 women and children were killed in this bombing, that would be on Trump's head? Get real.

In the Lefty/Media world, probably. The important thing here is that while a Dem is running the show, civilian casualties just don't produce the emo rage and continuous attention like when a Rep is calling the shots. How much outrage over civilian casualties do we have under Bummer? Very little. It's weird, eh?

Let's not forget Trump's plans:

"I will quickly and decisively bomb the hell out of ISIS, will rebuild our military and make it so strong no-one -- and I mean, no one -- will mess with us."

"I would bomb the s*** out of them."

I can see trump getting into war crimes territory.

If that is the case, I do hope the outrage perks up under Trump. I am repulsed by American meddling in the Middle East.

We have been bombing the shit out of ISIS for a year or more. They have lost control of a lot of territory but history has shown (over and over) that bombing alone will never win a war, especially a guerrilla war.

Meanwhile next to nothing has been done to usher out the partisan, corrupt government currently ruling Iraq and damn little has been done to stop our allies (Turkey) from attacking our allies (the Kurds).

We pretty much have reached the worst case scenario many talked about when GWB invaded Iraq at the start of Bush War II. The Middle East is going to be in flames and in misery for decades, and the vast majority of the population will blame the USA for it.

OTOH The Donald repeatedly said he would wipe out ISIS in two weeks using his secret plan, so I could be wrong.

Bush invaded Somalia after losing the 1992 election. Unfortunately, Clinton took the bait and ran with it instead of immediately pulling U.S. troops out.
