There's nothing wrong with having 52 million people uninsured. Affordable insurance is a privilege not a right.

Affordable health care, on the other hand, while not necessarily a right, is in society's best interest.

It's been said before and will be said many times again: health insurance =/= health care.

How do you know if it's flu or flu like symptoms that are sign of a more serious condition?

Because I am not retarded. WTF. Do you go to the ER every time you have a sniffle? If so you are retarded.

And it still is NOT an Emergency. Pay up and go see a Doctor on your own dime. The Flu and Flu Like Symptoms do not belong in the ER. The ER is for Emergencies.

Medical Emergency = An Accidental Injury or a condition that occurs suddenly and unexpectedly and is life threatening or could result in permanent damage if not treated immediately.

And if you can't afford it?

Anyone can afford insurance if they have their priorities in line.
A basic plan can be had for ~$100 while a plan with prescription and other benefits can be had for ~$175.

Let see, minimum wage is $7.25. Working 10 hour days at 6 days per week, that is $22,600 per year while health care expenses would be under $2,400.

Those with "pre existing conditions" only make up 3% of the population or roughly 10 million people.

Try again.

People actually think the current system isn't broke? haha

The current system is projected to cost us more in the long run. Why is it that we pay more for health insurance, but yet we don't have the best healthcare coverage? We pay more, but get less, sounds like a bad deal.

Healthcare reform started with Teddy Roosevelt and has been touched by many Presidents after him for nearly 100 years. Healthcare reform is long overdue and people may hate Obama all they want, but this is the closest we have ever been to reform, in a recession no less.

I wonder what people think of Medicaid...I dunno...a government run insurance program...

3 percent of deaths in the US are from the Flu or Pneumonia that is twice the number from fire arms. Should we get rid of police for the poor?

Also, the rejection of one party does not equal the endorsement of the other. With 2 main choices, what do ya think voters are going to do? Vote for the greens or libertarians? Get real.

OK, so for someone who does not have money to see a doctor, you recommend waiting till symptoms become life threatening and result in permanent damage before going to the ER? That is your answer for reducing health care costs?

The Republicans have a simple majority in the House. They don't have the Senate, and they don't have the Presidency, so how are they going to repeal jack shit just like that?

So you are claiming there are only 30,000 people with "pre existing conditions," and everyone else would be able to get health plan for $175?

Maybe they should quit crying about not having insurance and get better job? Or better yet, get off unemployment and get a job... Craziest thing, most people have to work hard for what they have... Ask your parents... Quit "expecting" handouts and "privileges" just for being American..

What job?

You Republicans shipped them all overseas.

Oh you talking about the service jobs left behind?

The wage is not enough to afford insurance

Oh that's right, you are rich piece of shit that has no idea what it is really like to live in the filth you have created.

That's OK, enough people living in the crap will show you soon enough.

why do i have to go through insurance for an annual? insurance is for an unexpected, catastrophic event such as cancer. not because i have the flu.

just like you don't go through car ins for a burned out light bulb. the system is retarded.

Have you guys forgotten the 85 cents rule that kicks in in 2013?

No matter what they charge you you get 85 cents back from every dollar not spent on your health care. The company keeps 15 percent profit and get 13 cents more than what it takes to administer social security....

How is that not saving me money?

How exactly does that work?
Are you saying that if I pay $2,000 in health care premiums and never visit the ER or use any medication, the insurance company will write me a refund check for $1,700 at the end of the year?

The only short term hope of getting rid of it is having it thrown out by the supreme court as it lacks the severability clause. If part of it is unconstitutional, the entire bill will be throw out.

They can defund and modify for the next 2 years.

Repeal in 2012 is a real possibility as redistricting will done by then and republicans cleaned up on the state level.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-...th-care-overhaul-from-taxes-to-insurance.html

According to CBO, no less. So that's what they are going to "replace" it with? 52 Million uninsured?

Article quoted in OP's post is BS. Most of the people without insurance can't afford it, to force to buy something they already cannot afford(obamacare) is idiotic. Since Obamacare does nothing to address rising costs, while at the same decreasing quality of care and amplifying the doctor shortage, I will give Boehner a medal if he pulls it off.

I fucking told you we were coming after people that don't work or pay taxes. We're here. We are taking the country back. Fuck Obama and anybody that believes his agenda.

please be polite, this is a forum for debating not foul language. You can express your opinion here but it's not ok to target people on a personal level. If this continues, the thread and the comments will be reported.

I make 2 statements.

1) Health insurance is affordable to anyone if they make it a priority.

2) People with pre existing conditions make up 3% of the population and with the population being roughly 300 million, that is only 10 million people, hardly the "national problem" the "progressives" make it out to be.

Actually lawsuits and malpractice insurance are a tiny percentage of health care costs.

As is health insurance company profit, but that doesn't stop the Democrats from wailing and gnashing their teeth about it. The problems with health care are far deeper than anyone wants to talk about.
