Blink 182 is utter garbage. You should be ashamed if you own their crap!

Case in point: The other day I heard a song on the radio and thought "You know this doesn't actually sound all that bad. The lyrics and rhythm are pretty unoriginal but there is something kinda neat about it. It sounds like Blink 182 though." Low and behold guess what it was? That's right.

Why is it that B182's songs are all about teenage frustration and "woe is me it sucks to be 17 blah blah blah"? Diss backstreet boys all you want but at least they can sing well and some of their stuff has a good beat. Yes that's right I just said that BSBs are better than B182. In fact WAY better.

Here is a typical B182 verse (play it to some loud punk crap music):

People say I'm young cause I'm only eighteen,
And rents rag me out cause I'm doing my thing,
But I see what it's like up there on the big screen,
When ya grow up it's only 'bout the ching-ching.

Don't remember what it's like to be a guy like me,
Just another member of this nuclear family.

*BANG BANG* SHOOT ME.

DISCLAIMER: Yes I said that song (don't know/care what it was called) wasn't totally garbage, but then damn near every group/singer on the planet has made something that isn't total garbage as well.

Hey man, back off. I'm eighteen and going through some rough times. I can really connect with their music and it helps me a lot. They understand me, which is something I can't say about my f*cking 'rents. I can't wait to get out on my own and out of this house.

Rock on, Fred. Rock on. I got your back, bra.

Excellent example. Every musical group has a target audience. Linkin Park, Blink, etc target adolescent and post-adolescent teens and young adults. I listen to and love Blink, Green Day, Linkin Park, etc. I can't relate to their music as much at this point in my life, but I can understand how the kids today feel (I felt that way too). BSBs target the young female audience. My problem w/ BSBs (and others) is that they were manufactured by the record industry. I don't like their music. I don't think any of their songs have redeeming value, but that is just my opinion on the subject.

Now take a band like Green Day, Blink, Linkin Park, etc and look at them from a technical and lyrical standpoint... You might not like their lyrics, but you should be able to appreciate what they are singing about. From a technical aspect, these bands are great. Blink may not be the greatest punk band out there, but they do their own thing and really can rock.

Just my opinion.

It's true every group has a target audience but in Frogdog's case he was being sarcastic :Q

they're talented musicians.

they are good at the guitar and the drummer is good.

they all failed out of highshcool so you cant blame them for sucking at writing lyrics.

If kids are as sad and depressed as they say they are, they would be listening to Nick Drake ;)

LOL silverpig... that pretty much sums it up! I could teach someone how to play every blink song in a couple hours :).

What I don't understand is the fact that each of the members is about 30 (and at least one is married, too!) and they're writing songs about typical teenage angst... heh.
