Hey man, back off. I'm eighteen and going through some rough times. I can really connect with their music and it helps me a lot. They understand me, which is something I can't say about my f*cking 'rents. I can't wait to get out on my own and out of this house.

Rock on, Fred. Rock on. I got your back, bra.

Excellent example. Every musical group has a target audience. Linkin Park, Blink, etc target adolescent and post-adolescent teens and young adults. I listen to and love Blink, Green Day, Linkin Park, etc. I can't relate to their music as much at this point in my life, but I can understand how the kids today feel (I felt that way too). BSBs target the young female audience. My problem w/ BSBs (and others) is that they were manufactured by the record industry. I don't like their music. I don't think any of their songs have redeeming value, but that is just my opinion on the subject.

Now take a band like Green Day, Blink, Linkin Park, etc and look at them from a technical and lyrical standpoint... You might not like their lyrics, but you should be able to appreciate what they are singing about. From a technical aspect, these bands are great. Blink may not be the greatest punk band out there, but they do their own thing and really can rock.

Just my opinion.

Ryan
It's true every group has a target audience but in Frogdog's case he was being sarcastic :Q

Ah... touche...

I have to agree with the "Suck" factor of all those bands, but I have an easy solution - I just don't listen to it!
I do mix for the occasional cover band, and I've learned to mentally block these crappy songs out when they play them.
There are some great bands out there right now, but Cramp Bizkit, Linkin' Crap, Blink 182 have just oversaturated everything with their fake whiteboy angst. What problems could these feel good, Corporate Rock bands have?? Reminds me of the late 70's bands like Styx and Kansas (not that I liked that crap, but they were at least talented). I'm not a shreadhead, nor do I like Glam Rock, but at least those bands could play, and write a halfway decent song. It's all very 1 dimensional, in the fact there's no sincerity, feeling or originality in any of these bands (Blink 182 may have a song or 2). I heard that stupid Limp Bizkit album once, and just thought that the whole album was 1 long detuned song about breaking someone's face. Great.....

More power to 'em, they're making more money than me, but it just disgusts me. Everyone's got their opinions though, and mine dosen't much matter in a world of 4 Billion+

But..... then again.... Like I always say, there's no accounting for taste!
This is what I call the "Top 40 Problem"!

Like Ben Folds said in that Rockin' the Suburbs song (and said it best) -
"Lemme tell y'all what it's like being male, middle class and white, it's a b!tch if you don't believe, listen up to my new CD. Sham on!"
-and-
"Take the checks and face the facts, that some producer with computers fixes all my sh!tty tracks"

They're so repetitive. Damn near all their songs sound the same. The drummer must get bored of doing the same thing over and over.

Thank you for your opinion, it has been duly noted and filed in the round-file.

Btw, your an @$$ for insulting others on such a stupid principle, which makes me think maybe I should give blink 182 a try, because if an ignorant boob like you dislikes them then maybe they are good?

There is no doubt Blink 182 is the proverbial ASS of ALL music known to man. I feel it's so horrible that it shouldn't even be considered music. I?ve noticed that ALL THREE people I?ve known that listen to ?punk?, have no ear or musical ability WHATSOEVER. I can?t help but think my cat could hold a note better. They all also happen to have whacked out hair color, pale white skin and jewelry meant to keep stray dogs in line. I do believe that music portrays ones character and emotion, and one only has to look at the people who listen to the stuff to know that the music is just plain f*cked up.

Wearing dog collars and tattered cloths, looking more motley than the rabid cat next door that came from nowhere and wont leave and striving to make my room look like an utter tenement?, is where I draw the line. ;)

Don't get me started :p

As for Blink...they are not punk. They are pop music, with instruments instead of a synth. I think its hillarious that they make fun of pop music, because they are in essence making fun of themselves. I didn't mind their old stuff, but their new CD grates me ears. I also find it amusing that my sister is a huge BLink fan. She thinks she is all punk and stuff, and granted she does listen to a lot of what many people could call 'real' punk music, but she seems to think Blink is one of them too. I make fun of her alot for that.

lets examine what blink sings about. relationships, divorce, relationships, suicide, relationships. are you telling me that upper middle class suburban kids don't have these problems? perhaps you should visit the suburbs.
