Kid rings doorbell.
80 year old white guy shoots him for interrupting foxnews.

Police immediately look for criminal records of the victim to leak to conservative outlets.

DA immediately pushes for release of shooter in case he is a white military veteran.

State GOP office immediately dusts off mental health and crime talking points about other cities that don't actually have high crime stats.

FoxNews blames Biden by adding the word fentanyl to whatever notes they have lying around.

Rightwing immediately begin searching for memes to imply that the victim = thug

Jackasses on this forum begin hunting for article about white people getting shot ringing black peoples doorbells so that they can go both sides or whatever they think they are doing.

Meanwhile we should not blame guns because stuff and things

I already have seen people trying to claim the kid was trying to kick down the door, pretty messed up how predictably racist people can be in this country.

I mean you have their dear leader Trump calling the AG "thug" Bragg every time he mentions his name. Of course his cult followers are going to repeat it.

Kalif Browder spent 3 years in Rikers on the accusation of stealing a backpack. How the fuck does this guy get out in 24 hours??
New York City is a city in the State of New York. Kansas City is a city in the State of Missouri.

You may as well be relating what happens in China with what happens in Brazil.

I get it. Meanwhile 2 incidents in Texas.

Crystal Mason got 5 years for accidently voting when not eligible.
AG Ken Paxton was indicted 7 years ago for felony fraud. Still no trial

how the fuck can you shoot someone through your front door and that be legal? what the fuck is wrong with America?
We don't know what happened yet. The victim has not released a statement and the police has not released the home owner statement. We do know that the home owner is 80 years old (think senile); and if you want to know his name you can look up the property record which will likely have his name.

If the victim open the door i'm not sure if that will make it legal; a lot of red states have weird laws; but likely it was illegal in which case he will likely be charged. Before passing judgement you should wait until the full facts are known.

This was far harsher than 'illegal voting' as she was told that she was legal; the voting registration admitted they made a mistake and misinformed her; AND your AG is a likely felony - so what do you expect ?

And also in TX, the .gov wants to pardon a white guy for killing a BLM protestor. Just thought I would add that one in since it fits.

Innocently knocking on the wrong door does not give the homeowner sufficient cause to shoot in self-defense.
I'm not exactly sure WTF is going on in this country that we have lost all sense of courtesy and neighborliness, but I strongly suspect it has a lot to with the increase in fearmongering politics.

Wrong! The victim gave a statement Friday as it turns out. It's public knowledge now, and shortly to be released unless more skullduggery is afoot.

Missouri has a Republican Governor. If the shooter is put on trial and convicted I bet he gets a pardon.

At a minimum a big atta boy from MTG.

Just saw a presser with the mayor and police chief. The police chief says they haven't taken a formal statement from the victim yet, presumably because he's been in the hospital. Which might explain the delay in charging. However, what concerned me is when she said "there is no indication of a racist motive" from what they've seen so far.

Since their investigation so far has mainly been to interview the shooter, I'm sure the shooter denied shooting him because he was black, because well, everyone accused of anything denies everything. So this self-serving denial translates to a public official saying that on television? Perhaps she is just trying to prevent a riot, but I've got a feeling those words may have the opposite effect. Riot prevention would be more likely if they charge him soon, like now, and keep their opinions about motives to themselves.

You know racism is subtle; my guess is he saw a black fellow and reacted in pure fear; is it racism; yes he shot the guy because he is black but it is different from - oh a black fellow is there lets shoot him so we have one less monkey. They are both racism but one is still different from the other. Having said this either way he should be locked up - reminds me of the case in California where an Asian exchange student rang the wrong door bell and was likewise killed.

Sure it is people who kill people but guns make it too easy for morons to kill innocent people. There should be like a mandatory 1 year 'gun class' followed by an iq test before you are allowed to purchase a gun.

Unless he was trying to break the door down there is no way shooting was justified. Like wtf is wrong with people. I'm so glad I don't live in the US.

Yes, I agree. However, most hate crimes laws make it a crime to harm someone in whole or in part because of their ethnicity. If he would not have shot the teen had he been white, it's a hate crime, regardless of whether the bias was implicit or explicit.

I would also add, that I wouldn't be too sure that this man's bias was only implicit. A typical person who has unconcious bias would have called the police upon seeing a black person on his porch. Maybe pull out the gun and wait for police to arrive.

This guy is more like the McMichaels in the Ahmaud Arbery case. Those guys could have just called the cops. That's what a typical racist would do upon seeing a "scary" black man in their neighborhood. Those guys chose to shoot him instead.

But we're a good Christian country. Wounded kid only had to go to 3 different houses for help.

Ralph got up and ran from the property, but he had to ask at three different homes before someone helped him, family added. Kansas City police officers said they responded to the area around 10 p.m.

I fully believe in stand your ground laws....especially when someone is protecting their home. However I will wait for more details before making a final judgement.

Is the old guy hard of hearing?
Does he have poor eyesight?
Is this a bad neighborhood with high crime?
Was the old guy tired?
Why did the 16 year old go to the wrong house?

Night time can be more confusing....I'd be very careful of opening the door. I'd also be careful of banging on anybody's door I didn't know. Might get shot!!!

Like I get it, for legal reasons they have to say it this way, “the alleged shooter has yet to face charges”. Like there isn’t any dispute who shot him. He literally was caught with the smoking gun in his hands.

Is this a joke?

None of those are reasons to indiscriminately fire shots through your front door because someone rings your doorbell at night.
