I can. The "Obama citizenship conspiracy" people are basically the same as the "9/11 conspiracy people". I'm not exactly sure what the cause is, but their brains become totally non-functional when this topic is brought up. No argument, no piece of paper, no statement from anyone is EVER going to convince them that Obama is eligible to be the President.

Look at their statements in this thread. These aren't arguments of skeptical people who are genuinely searching for truth. They've clearly made up their mind about the answer, the object now is try to justify their belief. How do you argue with that?

Agreed.

Not to get sidetracked, but I very much like the quote in your signature. Earl Warren was an amazing man in that he screwed up monumentally (internment of the Japanese) and then did everything in his power to right his wrong. It's amazing to think how instrumental he was in overturning separate but equal. He's truly an inspirational American and you picked a great sig quote.

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Just to add to the fun, I found this reply from a friend's Government rep to be fucking retarded and wrong in so many ways.

Below is a response to the recent comments I received from you: Dear Mr. womever:

Thank you for contacting me regarding President-Elect Obama's citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.

Like you, I believe that our federal government has the responsibility to make certain that the Constitution of the United States is not compromised. We must fight to uphold our Constitution through our courts and political processes.

Article II of the Constitution provides that "no Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President." The Constitution, however, does not specify how that qualification for office is to be enforced. As you may know, a voter recently raised this issue before a federal court in Pennsylvania. On October 24, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania released an order in the case of Berg v.Obama.In that case, the plaintiff, Phillip Berg, raised the same issue that your letter raises regarding proof of the President-Elect's birthplace. Through his lawsuit, Mr. Berg sought to compel President-Elect Obama to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate.

The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg's suit and held that the question of Obama's citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.

Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party's nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama's birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.

After he is sworn into office, Mr. Obama will be our nation's President and I intend to bestow upon him the honor and respect due any man who holds that Office. Yet, I am certain that there will be times when I will disagree and oppose President Obama's policies. When that happens, you can be assured that I will pursue vigorously what I believe to be in the best interest of Florida and the nation. I thank you for sharing your views with me and will keep your concerns in mind. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact me. For more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov. Sincerely, Mel Martinez United States Senator

so voters have more power than COTUS in this guys mind.

Looks to me like a politician trying to duck the issue by passing it off to the 'will of the voters'. What do you really expect him to do though? He's confronted with a small, insane, rabid group of people who have already convinced themselves that Obama isn't a citizen.

I mean, the appropriate response would be 'shut up you ignorant douchebag', but that might cost some votes.

/sigh people are STILL bringing up the issue of Obama's birth certificate, and this time from someone helping people avoid taxes :disgust:.....

Schulz, interviewed by the Tribune on Tuesday, said his concern about Obama's citizenship is not partisan.

"We never get involved in politics," he said of We The People. "We avoid it like the plague."

Tax debate is fair game, however. The Queensbury, N.Y., man has been active on tax issues for nearly 30 years. Last year, a senior judge in the Northern District of New York ordered Schulz to shut down a Web site that sold advice on avoiding taxes.

Asked about the case, Schulz said the government has tried to silence him.

He hopes the Tribune ads bring his group prominence.

Damn, damn, and triple damn, here I was hoping that idiots demanding Obama's birth certificate would simply would simply hold their breath for the three minutes or so required to produce death. Or pour gasoline on themselves in public and threaten to burn themselves to death if it was not immediately produced. Thus showing true courage of conviction and a rather desirable removal from the collective gene poll.

Instead we have a bunch of wimpish pussies swift boating. Begone you foul worm tongues, put your damn money where your mouth is or shut up. Take it to court is still your only proper option.

But they will not take it to court, because they know they do not have a leg to stand on. So they make much noise, all the sound and fury, over nothing, nothing at all.

So cry alone Alan Keyes, you have run for political office countless times, the last refuge of nominating scoundrels, and someone that has never won an election in your entire worthless life.

Uhhhh, they have taken it to court, many of them. One particular case is at SCOTUS level to be distributed for conference on Dec. 5. By some accounts, Obama has spent in excess of a million $ in legal fees fighting these stupid suits. Myself, I would have just paid the $12.00 and let my critics have whatever they wanted to shut them up, especially on a matter as simple as proving my citizenship.

Have you somehow missed the entire discussion? Obama offered up an official state of Hawaii birth certificate copy, the same as that issued to anybody born in Hawaii... which isn't good enough for the conspiracy theorists. They want the original, on file with the Hawaii board of Health. They'll likely claim it's a fake, too, if granted access. There's no satisfying them, period.

The lawsuit headed to the SCOTUS? Don't hold your breath, K3N. The Justices will get a good chuckle at the chuckleheads who filed it, deny review w/o comment, basically flush it down the porcelain bowl, where it belongs.

The collateral evidence of the announcement of birth in a Hawaiian newspaper in 1961 shoots the whole conspiracy theory right in the ass, unless somebody cares to offer that teh ebil libruhls must have perfected time travel to pull this off...

What about that announcement? Any opinion on that, or will you continue to pretend it doesn't exist?

Plus the state of Hawaii has announced that they reviewed the birth certificate and verify its authenticity. A state issued birth certificate is enough proof for me to prove citizenship for passports, driver's license, etc. I do not see what he can do any further in regards to this since the goverment that issues the certificates has verified the authenticity.

Because there isn't anything preventing people from bringing up a court case. The fact that most of them are being thrown out shows the frivolity of it all. It's circular, the government agency that issues the birth certificates is verifying the authenticity and accuracy of the certificate. There isn't anything to dispute in regards to the actual birth certificate.

They do that sort of thing all the time. Get back to us if they grant cert, the actual indication of if they think a claim has merit. (hint: they won't)

Your understanding of the legal system is remarkably misinformed, K3N. Any fool can file a lawsuit, no matter how pointless. If the court of jurisdiction rejects it, then the plaintiff can appeal to a higher court for more rejection, and a higher one, ultimately arriving at the inbox of the SCOTUS.

The only limits are the finances and the stubborness of the plaintiff.

This suit is the judicial equivalent of junk mail, and will be handled as such...

What about that newspaper birth announcement from 1961- Any comment? Or just lalalalalalalalala....?

Or can you only see what you want to see?

Obama's paid the 12.00. He has an official birth certificate, and it's been certified by the state of Hawaii. I don't understand what's so hard for you people to understand. Do you belive he should bay 12.00 for every idiot that wants their own copy?

Unfortunately, being wrong doesn't prevent you from bringing a lawsuit against someone.
