Many places do that. I know Walmart inches up prices on grocery items a few cents at a time, then they drop them by 20, 30, 40 cents and put a price "Rollback" tag on the shelf. They leave it there for a couple of weeks, then begin inching the price back up again.

Department and clothing stores used to have "sales" on many item for weeks and months at a time. I remember back in the 80s that Colorado actually passed legislation to combat the deceptive practice. I don't remember the specifics, but the law required that the "regular" price must be in effect for something like a minimum of 50% or 75% or some percentage of the days in a given time period.

I made out well this year. I got three Droid Turbo 2's for $124 ($500 off) from Verizon, while trading in 5 year-old smart phones. I got a Bob jogging stroller new, for less than a used one I was about to buy ($140 off), and I got a new shop-vac from Lowe's (it was $60 off, but it was $30 less than one I would've bought if not for the sell). I also always buy a handful of movies from BB every year and some flash memory (usually a bit cheaper at BB on BF then online).

First year in a while I've gotten anything but movies. I still can't believe the phone deals.

I dunno, its TLC nand and I keep my stuff for a longass time so im holding out for a drive with MLC but it looks less and less likely. First amazon had that sandisk, then ebuyer, now its scan.... ffs pick a different drive guys!

Actual deals are not that common but do happen. I've waited a while for a keyboard that started to retail for $150 in 2012 to drop below $100, missed the first sale window, it went back up and stubbornly stayed at $100+ for a while and on BF it temporarily dropped to it's lowest price @ $64.99.
