Seems like nvidia cards can turn a game into a smudgy piece of garbage better than AMD cards can, what a surprise. I wonder how the game runs with proper SMAA.
This seems a worse case of trolling than the OP ever come up with. References, links to back up your claims?

Did HardOCP mention why they didn't test Titan SLI as part of their high end BI review? Haven't read this whole thread yet. Anyway, seems AMD and nvidia are on par with each other, the 2-3 fps disparity makes 0 difference in gameplay so they are pretty much even for all intents and purposes. I don't see the point in people here nit picking over the details. What I'm most curious about is if Brent noticed Crossfire's latency and stuttering?

Thx.

Ok look man. Brent came here himself, putting away any claims you have of his benchmark and the 7950 testing being wrong. It isn't. NV is doing better. Get over it. NV driver team is better than the AMD one.

NV cards are more expensive than their AMD competitor. In general, the 660Ti is compared to the 7870 now. Just look at every comparative benchmark...

i told you hardocp isn't the only one testing games. if you draw your conclusion from one review thats just your opinion. i look at multiple websites and reviewers before doing the same. suit yourself.

everybody knows Nvidia has a more robust SLI solution and a definite edge in multi GPU drivers . but for single GPU AMD is on par.

The didn't use Titan because it's completely unnecessary (http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1039805381&postcount=9). A GTX 680 or 7970 Ghz is more than enough for single monitors. Maybe they'll use it in a future multi-display test, but that's just speculation They did say that for Metro Last Light that they will be using Titan.

Single GPU they aren't on par. they're getting beat at every game being released and it took them over a year or so to catch up to nv performance. How exactly are they on par...

Dude I feel no attachment towards AMD but your post is not entirely true, 7970 was slower when 680 launched but AMD took back the fastest single gpu crown by releasing a new sku and better drivers. Moreover they have better performance in some of NV's own titles.

New SKU? You mean an over clocked version of an existing card? And yeah you proved my point "and better drivers" that took quite a while. What games do they have better performance in nvs own titles? And don't bring up old games. I'm talking recent .

Yeah Jay, don't use games that weren't released in the last 1-2 months. In fact don't post any games. Because we'll just readdress the question, add a few modifiers, and by the end of our conversation you'll be in full agreement that NV released better drives and thus better performance between the days of July 2, 2012 at exactly 12:03PM EST and July 15th, 2012 at exactly 5:06PM EST, but we'll disregard the date of July 8th 2012, at approximately 10AM EST.

Come on Jay, step up! What? WHAT!?

I am not debating whether 7970 GHz is a misnomer or not but it is a new sku, we can't deny facts. We can't just bring up old benches to show how much their drivers have matured over the year because it has matured for NV too.The TWIMTBP program has almost dried up so it is really difficult to refer a new NV sponsored titles.Gamers just don't play new games dude they play good games.

I never really understood what the big deal was, GHz is faster, uses more power than it gains in performance however.

Obviously NVidia dropping hotclocks and releasing a competitive GK104 chip wasn't something AMD was expecting, but they at least tried to adjust and compromise, though sales could be better they didn't completely fail to meet the challenge.

Nvidia just has a better product this generation for the most part, GK104 is competing with AMD's best, and GK110 has no equal. It's times like these that could break a lesser company, they have an inferior product from a sales and revenue perspective but are still hanging in there pretty well... Some of that though is due to Nvidia going all out on prices, and some of it probably has to do with the years of battling Intel.

I own 680s, and i'm just incredulous at this statement. You do realize that performance isn't static, some games favor one architecture while other games favor another - it isn't surprising that Bioshock runs a few fps faster on nvidia. UE3 is known to run very well on nvidia hardware as it has for years, it is a very old and dated engine (although it has added a few DX11 features). Additionally, several UE3 games have been tied to TWIMTBP with physx. My point here is that UE3 has always done well on nvidia hardware. We as consumers reap the benefits of this.

There are a lot of games. A lot of them run faster on the 7970ge. A lot of them run faster on the 680. Thus it goes back and forth. Again, i'm just in disbelief at your statement. Step back, take a deep breath, and if you glance over your posts you'll realize you're being just as partisan as some of the posters that you've decried in the past. Sheesh.

Ok look. Take BF3 for an example (an old NV title), AC3 (a fairly new one) and the last 3 big AAA titles of (Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, bioshock).

First off, AC3 has performed terribly on AMD cards and still does. This is the most recent (or one of) NV titles. If you compare this to say Sleeping Dogs or Hitman Absolution, who have been known to give a lot better performance on AMD cards, NV has always been highly playable at the least. Performance has also increased dramatically in both, especially in Hitman.

Onto BF3. This title came out on October 25th, 2011. The GTX 680 came out March 22nd, 2012 and performed HIGHLY better than AMD until they finally somewhat caught up on October 22nd, 2012 when they released the never settle drivers. This is basically an ENTIRE YEAR of poor performance. After this, the game saw increases in performance for both camps, while it is currently about even. A whole year is a long time to wait, how exactly would you wait if you were an AMD user for that year? BF3 was biggest back then and not nearly as many people play it now. This is WITHOUT including gtx5xx and 6xxx series.

Now take a look at the recent 3 AAA titles. They are all performing better on NV hardware. Farcry 3 performs better on NV too, but i didn't include that because of all the game related issues to be fair. Tomb Raider was released on March 5th, 2013. This is a game that NV did not have access to and is an 'AMD title'. Not even 2 weeks later, on March 18th, 2013, NV releases a driver update, putting them ahead of amd again. Crystis 3 ran better on NV from the get-go. What has been AMD's response?

What is the next AAA title coming out ? Metro. NV title. You can bet your ass that NV will peform better in it too.
The whole point is how quickly NV addresses their issues with drivers and how long it takes AMD to address theirs.

Now can you please explain to me how AMD drivers are on par with NV ?

Look up. We know that for raw performance the 7970ghz is the fastest card available (excluding titan). But the AMD driver team doesn't help it out.

Don't bother telling this guy the truth. He argued in another thread that it is factual that Nvidia has better drivers than AMD but cannot provide anything to back it up. As you can see, he'll argue how fantastic Nvidia drivers are no matter what.

1.If we are nit picking I can pick dirt-showdown too which runs horribly on NV(the title is crap but this is for arguments sake)
2.As I said earlier we can't live in the past forever otherwise how can we move on?
3.The recent TR patch reduced performance of NV cards, is this a conspiracy? I don't know.
NV has always been pro active than reactive but it seems AMD has learned the trade quite well.Last but not the least "TressFx" was a nice gesture from AMD's part, they could've locked NV out but they didn't.In the end it is great for consumers that they can choose great products from both sides.

Tthis is suppose to be about bioshock.
But.. who cares...
In going from AMD to Nvidia the only things that bother me are AMD seems to have slightly better pq and 1 gig more ram (seriously.. why did nv do this?).

How was Tomb Raider "great for consumers"?
AMD locked nVidia user out from playing that game for nearly 2 weeks. And even today there are problems the developer does not care to fix.

I am talking about "TressFx". One thing I would like to point though, it is understandable that one vendor will have better performance in their sponsored titles but the "crashing","lock-downs" shouldn't happen period. They shouldn't release a game without doing proper testing.

I have not played dirt 3 as it does not interest me, but what exactly is horrible? I remember seeing AMD perform better in this title, but NV having no problem running the game. From a quick google, these are fairly old benchmarks now but nonetheless how exactly is it terrible? Again, i have not played the game and so i may be mistaken, but it does not look as bad as you make it seem (comparing to AC3 on AMD cards)
2. That does not explain anything as even with current titles NV is ahead...Does one driver update suddenly make them on par? no, it doesn't.
3. You have the option of not updating. I run TR with my 670 with no problems on 1080p.
