It's funny, I tend to have a soft heart, and after all the hype about the moral choices in the game (i.e., to harvest or rescue the Little Sisters), I was thinking I'd find it a tough choice. So far, I just don't. Maybe it's partly having Atlas talking me into it for the first one, but I don't really feel bad about killing the little beasties so far. I'm thinking I may kill all of them in my first play-through, then rescue them all if and when I play it a second time.

I don't know how much you get for killing them since I've been rescuing all the little sisters, but I haven't had any issue with the Adam so far. If you rescue them you get little teddy bears that give you gifts. First one I got was like 200 adam and some other stuff with it. Most of the stuff you can buy isn't really all that great anyway, I'm not sitting there going "man I wish I had 10 more adam so I could buy another useless hacking upgrade!".

Ive been rescuing the little beasties whenever i see them. The first teddybear i got had 200 adam, and a plasmid that lets you mesmerize a "Big Daddy" for about a minute and a half! IT's awesome! then after they are finished thinking you are a little sister they mindlessly walk off in another direction. I would say that rescuing them gives you different plasmids that you would not be able to buy if you harvested them, because it is a gift. But the game really is AS good as Half Life :) If not better

Well, you talked me into it - I am actually playing the first part of Neptune's Bounty in order to rescue the first Little Sister, just to see what it yields me.

Are the alternate endings triggered by virtue of how many LSs you rescue vs. harvesting, I wonder?

picked it up today and will save all the LSs the first time through. The second time through they are getting the wrench...

Bioshock is kind of a combination of Beyond Good and Evil and System Shock 2 with a touch of Fallout. It is awesome.

I have now rescued two LSs, but no teddy bears so far. All I get is 80 Adam, which just leaves me missing the 160 Adam I'd get by harvesting them. Ah well . . .

I have been harvesting all the little sisters. I wished I would have rescued them all because you get a 100 point achievement for doing so :D

Judging by the fact that finishing the game without harvesting any of them is a 100 point achievement, I'm guessing it makes the game quite a bit harder.

Damn you guys, you're making me want to buy it, and I don't even really like FPSes! I played the demo, and I enjoyed it.

Get it. A friend came over last night, and both had our crack at it. He typically doesn't like FPS's with the exception of Halo.
We didn't put it down until we were 3 hours into. We did explore every part of the level we could.
There is also a fun hacking minigame that is like rapid puzzle solving. My friend really loved that part too.

Yup, I got it. Ammo and Eve don't seem to be terribly easy to come by. I found a bunch in the beginning of the game, but I've been using it sparingly and it's still getting low.

How far into are you now? I have not got any playtime with this since I opened it up.
And that was the day AFTER release. :frown:

very mixed user reviews over at the xbox.com forums. I haven't seen any gaming site reviews though.

I finished the first three levels, but I didn't get two of the three little sisters on the third level (the pause screen tells you how many there are left), so I went back. I killed one big daddy only to realize that he (she) had no little sister. Killed another one that did have a little sister, but I died at the same time. Went back to where I was, found the big daddy corpse, but there was a new big daddy with the little sister! So if you're going to die on a big daddy, die BEFORE you kill it. They don't recover their health if you die while fighting them.

I think you have to rescue the first one to trigger the rewards. The lady who tells you not to kill any is the one that rewards you every few LS's. So far I got 200adam, the big daddy control and something else I don't remember, probably just electric shotgun shells.

SPOILER SPOILER:

I believe the big daddy control is your reward for rescuing 3 little sisters. The 200 adam in the teddy bear was the reward for rescuing the first two. I rescued the first and harvested the second and did not get it. A guy I know rescued the first two and he did get it.

Edit: OK, for a while after the fusetalk upgrade, the highlight tag made the text the same color as the background so it was useful for hiding spoilers... you had to highlight the text to see it. Apparently they changed it back so it puts the ugly gray background around the text again.

I have now rescued 2 or 3, and was given the teddy bear with 200 Adam, the hypnotize-Big Daddy plasmid, and some kind of special ammo (I don't recall which, but I think it was armor-piercing MG ammo).

He's right, it does happen every 2-3 LS's. Ive gotten about 15 hours in, and have received 3 teddy bears. I dont resuce all of them though, so im probably missing out on some teddy bears :( .

I"m really struggling through this game. The game is great, but I've never been a fan of these types of games. They really make me nervous.

I jumped last night and scared the hell out of my dog. I heard splicer footsteps outside of a door, so I went to the door and opened it to look out. didn't see anything. went back to searching corpses/boxes and heard it again. I went back to look out the door and the freaking spider splicer was standing eye to eye with me.

the game is great but man do I hate spider splicers.

It also made me nervous as hell when I first picked up the shotgun when the room went pitch black.

there's this one part where your in the medical section when you grab something and it causes some smoke to blow behind you. As soon as you turn around a Slicer is right there. Scared the shit out of me.

haha, there are so many other times where I've been scared by this game. I'll probably never forget this game because of it.

oh yeah, and I found out it's NOT a good idea to throw the Enrage plasmid on a Big Daddy..

I was in the area of the dental section that has a turret behind a window shooting down a hallway toward a locked door. I went in to where the turret was and started collecting goodies. I was searching a cabinet in a corner or something and I kept moving without trying to move. I turn around and there was a splicer RIGHT IN MY FACE. I about crapped my pants.
