I know this isn't exactly on topic, but I figure everyone here should have knowlegable input on this. I got a Gamecube over the weekend and it has made two very loud clicks in that time - should I be worried? Games seem to play OK, although I did lose the video signal for about 30 seconds once (not coinciding with either click), audio kept playing, and when the image came back things looked OK. Also, Metroid seems to have very sticky doors sometimes, I think from loading info from the disc for the next room. Is this normal?

Metroid doors don't always seem to open as quickly as they should.

Your other problems sound really funky, may wanna exchange it for another one.

BTW, Metroid locks up some times too (have to reset), everybody has that problem.

poop.. well mebbe ill buy that so i can sell mine on ebay for 50+ $ :)

How can you be so sure that people who are looking for Soccer Slam haven't already seen this thread and gone and purchased a new copy rather than paying an exhorbitant amount for a used one? This is a good deal, and I hope whoever is looking for this fun game is able to get it at SamGoody.

Samgoody.com also has a $10 electronic gift certificate with pre-order of Zelda:WW, so with 10% off all orders, free shipping, and a $5 off $30 coupon(you will have to find it yourself) an order for Zelda:WW and Soccer Slam comes to $58 and you get the afore-mentioned gift certificate.

The drawbacks are the terms to redeem the GC are limited and I haven't been able to find out if I would get the Zelda pre-order bonus games.

I'm skeptical as to whether or not SamGoody actually has new copies of this game. No other vendor has new copies, and even to this point, SamGoody is still accepting new orders for it. Where did they suddenly get new supply of this obsolete game? Not to be pessemistic, but it seems kind of fishy...

its highly unlikely that they will send you a used copy cause that would just cause problems for them wouldnt you think

Thanks big man!. Using the gamers gift card thing I walked out with this for $15.89 which includeds 6% MI sales tax. Eternal Darkness for $15.89 out the door= HOT HOT HOT

By the way for anyone in Michigan the Westland Best Buy had about 20 copies of Eternal Darkness in stock as of this evening.
Going to Wasteland wouldn't be too much different than real life Eternal Darkness.

hehe glad to help! i should make a spandex shirt with a GC logo on it with a nice purple cape.. dun da dundun DUNNN!

Yeah what i was really hoping for with soccer slam was to at least get what i paid for it at eb so i could get a nice shiny new copy at sam.. but you are right about the seattle market smell about the situation. But then again, I was thinking of snagging that an gasp dont hate me FFIX for 40$ - 5 -10% = 32$
Too bad fzero for GB advance is out of stock other wise it would be 30 -5 -10% = 22$, f zero for 2$ would be nice.

The demons are fighting internally on whether I should even make the effort...

I recently ordered and received from SamGoody.com a brand spanking new copy of Soccer Slam.

Edit: P.S. -- I've placed and received from them several orders recently (Jan/Feb) with the 10%/shipping/$5 promos, have had not one problem with service, products or prices. Great deals, fast delivery. This is no fly-by-night operation; they're a big-time B&M retailer with a solid web presence. I really couldn't feel more comfortable placing an internet order.

How does SamGoody ship? I got ground shipping on my order for SSBM & BG: DA, got a shipping confirmation e-mail on 2/12 with a tracking number, but haven't recieved it yet and the number doesn't show up for UPS, USPS, or FedEx.

I think they ship USPS, and I don't think they provide tracking info; if I remember correctly, I tried to use the tracking link from the SamGoody site and received a message on the USPS site that tracking info had not been purchased for the order. Whatever that means. Still, I've received all my shipments from them within a week or so, so I'm guessing yours will show up shortly; could be that the big winter storm has screwed things up a little, who knows. I'm looking for a couple of overdue shipments from DeepDiscountDVD and Columbia House, possibly weather-related. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Hey, not sure if anybody realizes it, but Nintendo has been using the exact same video cables since Super NES, so if you have S-video Cables for your Super NES or N64, you can use that with your Gamecube.

I had one for Super NES back in the day so I dug it up. Works great!

Saw a couple of Gamecube games (Scorpion King, 4X4 Evo) in the locked case at Target, not on clearance, but with new regular shelf tags of 12.99 and little triangular stickers in the upper right corner of the front of the game box that said "Get in the Game," with a couple of funky little symbols underneath next to the Target logo. Looks like a corporate promo to dump on suckers like me -- I bought both GC games. There were also a couple of XBox games, and 8-9 PS2 games, with the same stickers/prices. I hope somebody finds something decent.

The tracking system provided by USPS is not as comprehensive as UPS's or FedEX's. USPS's tracking only lets you know that the package was received at the processing facility and is ready for shipment, but it gives no indication as to when it will arrive or where the package currently is.

If you see EBgames' website, they posted a disclaimer about how the extreme weather conditions back east are affecting delivery times, so since USPS sometimes takes about 2 weeks to delivery something cross country, I would give it about 3 weeks now for something to arrive. Stuff usually takes about two weeks to arrive from the DeepDiscount sites. Good Luck everyone!

Hello Guys,

I'm new to this thread since I'm an XBox junkie and in TallGeese's thread all the time. The thing is my little brother's birthday is during the 2nd week of March. And even tho he comes home every weekend from college and we end up playing XBox, I'm thinking of getting him a GameCube so he can play during the week while he's at school, not to mention we can enjoy the game selection of both XBox & GameCube.

I'm wondering if the deal at BestBuy this week (system, nba street, and free game) is the best deal out and for the near future. Basically, should I buy it this week during the deal, or do you think or have heard that a better deal will be out soon and I should wait for that. Thanx for any help.

Edit: He's still playing with our N64 at his place...damn Bond & Griffey never get old. And since we have the Original Gameboy, Gameboy Color, NES, SNES, N64, it seems only appropriate to add GC to our collection. :)

Hey, I think GC is a great choice. I don't think the BB deal is all that great though. I guess it depends on whether you like the NBA Street game they're giving away. Target is giving away a Memory card along with the free game, and I personally think that's a better deal since you'll need to get a memory card for it anyway. plus, you can take advantage of the whole Zelda thing and snag the bonus disc for free by preordering the Windwaker.

I personally love NBA Street and can't wait for Vol. 2 to come out. But my buddy who is also a Cube junky doesn't really like it and never bought a copy. So, I wouldn't suggest considering NBA Street if you don't like the Free-for-All style of basketball gameplay.

Since Vol. 2 is coming out in the next couple of months, NBA Street will surely drop in price. But memory card prices hardly ever drop. It's really up to you I guess.

For the memory card, I was just gonna get him this pack:

With this pack you'll get all the accessories you need to put yourself on the road to GameCube stardom. You'll get the necessities like an awesome controller and six' extension cable. With the included 4MB memory card you can save all of your levels, weapons, characters and more. This package even includes a 12-game soft storage case to keep your valuable games safe and secure.

It's only $10, so I thought it best...plus he's get a controller, extension cable, & case. If I get this is there a deal better than the BB one?

Thanx also, for all your help.

P.S.: I love Street for PS2...played it forever, but I dunno how different it is on GC

Yeah, the 9.99 deal was apparently a limited-time promo; it went back to 29.99 last week.

Hey DaCurryman,
I looked at the reviews of the PS2 and GC versions of Street and they're pretty close, so I wanna say that there isn't much difference between them. As far as getting that pack you were referring to, I don't know if that's gonna be any good. I'm guessing it's all 3rd party stuff and from past experience, 3rd party stuff tends to not be very good. I would say your better off getting the Nintendo made controllers and mem cards, but that's just my opinion. I believe the Target deal is with a Nintendo made mem card.

Also, you should definitely pick yourself up a wavebird for the GC. These things are phenomenal and then you won't have to worry about getting wire extensions for the controllers. It's so hard for me to go back using a wired controller after playing with the Wavebird.
