Does anyone know how long this sale is supposed to be on for? Is this just a one week special??

The free game with Gamecube special is scheduled to run through May which would may be when we see another console price reduction as end of May was when last year's reductions were announced.

Exactamundo!

I've seen the card in a cd case at the store, but I'm not sure if I understand the benefit.
Is it that you are paying $5 for a $5 gift card?

Thanks!

you can put any amount of money you want on the gift card
you're basically just buying it so you get the coupon so when you make your purchase by the gift card first and then use the gift card and the coupon towards your purchase

Ahh...so you get an extra $5 coupon in addition to buying the $5 game gift card! Is this coupon printed out at the register?

Check your local Sam's Club if you are a member. I saw Disney soccer at a Sam's in FT Walton Beach, FL when I was there last. Probably on sale for $29 or $24 (sticker is $44 or $42).

Considering the huge amount of posts in this deal thread compared to XBOX and PS2 you would think the Gamecube to be more popular than it is ...no? Maybe they will report large sales and gains and 3rd party companies would get a hankerin' for making some Cube games.

Gamecube owners are a little more hardcore thats all :)
Outta the 3 consoles I would relate gamecube fervor more akin to dreamcast fans. (dont get me wrong, nintendo is doing just fine in the console war) But the general feel of franchise titles, cute system, absolutley wonderful and groundbreaking peripherals make this system more of a love than the coldness of the other consoles.
I know im not the only one who got a kick outta buying the 5$ gc case to put the little disks in. ;)
I also love how it fits perfectly within my mini Triple5soul backpack for travel.
I just dont get the same comradery with the ps2 or xbox like i do with the gc or did with the dc. Were all family baby! The gc just gives me a fuzzy feeling knowing ill bust it out 5-10years down the road to bask in the nostalgia (i never sell my game systems :) ) Feel free to flame on this...

Anyhoo to not get too completely off the subject heres some deals i saw recently at target.
EAs FIFA 2003 discounted from 29.99 to 20.99
EAs Tiger woods PGA Tour Golf 2003 discounted from 29.99 to 20.99 (almost got this, but man i got ways too many games to play)
Of course they had NO IDEA about a presale of zelda let alone the freebie!! :eek:

Yes, there's something about finding deals for the Gamecube that is almost as fun as playing the games themselves. It's a hobby of sorts for me. I recommend picking up NFL 2K3 and NBA 2K3 on EBgames.com. I called a couple of EB stores, and their prices do not reflect the low $15 prices online.

Add another GC owner to the list.

Just got back from CC with my black GameCube, Metroid Prime and 251 block memory card. $169.58 out the door. Maybe I could have saved a few bucks someplace online, but I've got it <g> and this would have cost me over $200 just a week ago.

This is my first "next generation" console as I've been a Dreamcast owner for the past year and a half. I love the small-footprint console...take that XBOX and PS2. Three months ago, the GC was at the bottom of my list (out of the three) but the pricing is just getting too aggressive to overlook and since I HAVE to play Zelda, I figure it's time to take the plunge.

So what's the Zelda bonus disc? Is it basically the 2 N64 Zeldas ported to the Gamecube (with presumably better visuals)?

Uhhhh...two previous versions of the Xbox list got corrupted when the list got too long from all the deals.

So the total post count for the Xbox list breaks down like this:

V1 = 957 posts
V2 = 498 posts
V3 = 159 posts

TOTAL = 1614 posts and counting

Just thought I'd clarify a bit :cool:

It's a port of OOT and OOT Master Quest (Remixed dungeons and such, sort of like in the original Legend of Zelda) at a higher resolution. Not upgraded graphics, but better anyway.

Hi, new to this forum, but been following a similar thread at PlanetGamecube and skimmed through this one.

You know how the international money market works, trading one currency for another for a profit? I've been kinda doing that: buying cheap games in bulk and trading them in for store credit. Last month I must've gotten like $100 of extra stuff from less than $100 investment. I bought 4 of 7 of my Best Buy's Beach Spikers, and the other 3 were also bought that night by a friend and an EB employee. And between my other friend and me, we cleared out our two local EB's 9-game stock of $5 Hunters. I bought dupes, but kept one of each for myself since they were great deals.

$10 Beach Spikers BB--> $12 EB credit --> or I hear $30 Rhino's credit
$5 (or now that the coupon's gone, $10) Hunter EB--> $12 Rhino's credit
$15 Bloodrayne EB --> $30 RHino's credit

Rhino also has a deal where you can trade in two games and get one free, but walking in with two Hunter's didn't play out. Store credit wasn't too bad an alternative. When doing the Beach Spikers trade-in, my "EB Games" stand-alone store wouldn't take multiples, but they said the mall "Electronics Boutique" would.

Well, that was like two weeks ago. Yesterday when I went in to Best Buy to pick up another copy of Beach Spikers to complement my additional copy of Hunter for the Rhino's 2 for 1 deal, the price sign said $30. D'oh. Maybe they caught on... Can anyone verify this price increase?

And while I'm on the subject of prices oddly increasing, preowned XG3 at EB went up from $13 to $15. Might as well buy the new one now.

Dr_wily, I definitely agree about GC bargain-hunting fun. Although I've owned an X-Box for a while now, I HAD to pick up a cheap GC for the great games available and those soon-to-be released. Metroid Rules! I'm also looking forward to picking up Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil for cheap. I just like the FEEL of the GC and it's controller. Small and efficient.

You like the feel of the GC controller? Just wait until you try the Wavebird - a more perfect controller has not yet been invented.

I too am an Xbox owner, but my GC came first though.

Tiger Woods 2003 is $20.xx @ Target now

AND - Starting this Sunday if you buy a Cube you get a free game (yes, I know you guys know this ...) but if you buy it at Target next week you also get a free Mem251 too! It's comes together in a special package with the game, quantaties are limited but we got a ton at my Target today ... So for $150 you get Cube+Game+Mem card. Ownage me thinks!

If you guys purchased your Cube @ Target in the past 90 or so days and you have your box and your receipt, you might be able to convince the people at Guest Services to let you return and buy back your Cube (consoles you CAN return if they're opened as long as you have your box and receipt) so that you can cash in on the free game + free mem card. Act really politely, say please and thank you and try and do this when there are very few people in line ... they'll be more likely to do it for you.

Enjoy!

Is the beachspikers deal still going on? I saw it at a local Best Buy, but it was marked at 29.99.

my CC $35 wavebird rebate finally came in but it looks like they deducted $35+ tax from my msn wallet thing... doesnt make much sense but no reason to complain about a loss of like $2 from tax
hopefully nintendo's rebate comes in soon
