I'd be down with paying some tax or something to get nicer bike lanes. Plus if you have a car license you should be fine to ride a bicycle on the street. Not sure how I feel about requiring license plates. Can the license plates be stickers that can be plastered onto the frame?

No, they need to hang from the back of the seat. That way motorists can call the police on ciclists who refuse to follow the law.

Well, the problem with that is a motorcycle sized license plate (which is already almost impossible to see in my opinion) has negligable performance degradation for a motorcycle.

But for bicyclists, they are trying to save every little bit of weight they can. Not to mention a flat shaped object would create plenty of air drag.

How about velcrod to the back of the spandex shirt?

Heh, maybe. I switch between wearing a shirt, sweater, or a backpack. Some sort of flexible, light weight, easy to apply license plate maybe.

He's one of the 2 or 3 super outspoken ciclists who insist that ciclists themselves have absolutely 0 issues and 0 reasons to change their behaviour.

In this mind, every single solitary problem revolves around motorists. Period. He's not willing to discuss any changes whatsoever, other than restrictions and laws which inhibit motorists.

Seeing as how the majority of the people in the thread seem to not agree with him, I'm not surprised he's upset about the direction of the thread.

Im all for a license plate on a bike in NYC. We have cameras that snap pics of car plates when they blow through red lights. Tickets get mailed to the offender. Something like that for bikers in the city would be nice.

I can agree with this.

I'm pretty sure we crossed that bridge a WHILE ago, wouldn't you say?

Touche.

Well, actually, speed causes all vehicle incidents. I've rarely seen two stationary vehicles get into a crash by themselves.

I have no problem with bicyclists as long as the follow the rules. When they don't and act stupid then I get annoyed.

My boss rides a bike quite a lot, but he does not ride like an idiot and certainly doesn't defend idiot riders when they do stupid stuff.

I still don't understand why you care so much about what other people drive, so much that you enjoy seeing people get in accidents, and post your glee in a thread that has nothing to do with them

Pretty Sure BikeJunkie is still waiting on that quote where he said it was okay for bicyclists to break laws.

No one has ever been saying that no bicyclist breaks a law. We've just been saying that motorists do it to. Trying to generalize a large group of people never works well.

Ah, now I get it. You fail at reading comprehension. Pretty much everyone in this thread thinks you're an idiot. Just refer back to your "passing around a blind corner" comment. That was super dumb.

Yeah I gave up on that when I recognized the "SA Cycle": when someone stomps mudholes in your failed logic, just pretend like they never said anything.

Pretty much everyone in this thread thinks you're an idiot.

Don't forget the Land Rover thread! Since SA loves appeals to popularity, based on the feedback he's received here and in that other thread, he's certifiably insane.

Anyway, he's been on ignore for a bit now. It's a happier place :)

You're new here, it's something we all know by now. :p

Take him off ignore and just don't reply, otherwise you'll miss some gems.

The gems are quoted by others, so just keep his ass on ignore.

Was looking at this for another thread and it reminded me of you :)

Speed != speeding. Everywhere else they say speeding, there they say speed.

You know what causes a lot of highway accidents? Speed differential. Some jackass going 10 under in the left lane getting hit by someone doing the speed limit or higher. The self righteous "I'll make you slow down!" types and whatnot.
