I unclip my right foot at traffic lights and with one half revolution on my left foot I can pause for a half a second, if that, while I clip the right foot in and not even lose momentum. It is second nature and takes almost no time at all.

And people drive everyday too, doesn't make them 'drivers' in the sense of motorsports.

There are many dudes that do weekend runs, have all the pretty gear, etc but really aren't cyclists...they are just bike riders.

Maybe you have mad skillz like capt caveman...most people cannot get clipped in quickly...most people would probably do better with clipless pedals instead of fighting with them in traffic.

Again too much of this you and that other guy are taking personally when I was referring to those that do stupid things like make up their own traffic rules, don't yield to cars wanting to pass, etc.

Oh and sorry for mispling gist. grammor and speling mastur.

You have to be fucking kidding me. Jules rides to work and back ~50% of his working week if I am not mistaken. I ride up to 4 times a week between 16-18 miles on road and yet neither of us Track Stand. Yet by your logic we are not cyclists.

Here is the news; 1) It is not always possible to track stand 2) In some cases it can be more dangerous to do so.

It's not called a TRACK stand for nothing. You use it on a track or for a short period OR on road if you can see the light sequence is about to change and the road is flat. Try doing one on a hill or off camber road with potholes and badly aligned cars or poor signal vision. Not a good idea.

I find it laughable that you attack people who clearly cycle on a regular basis, but, and this is pure speculation, I suspect you haven't ridden a bike more than five miles in quite some time.

There are always exceptions...the semi professional people here brought this to this tangent.

Are you riding 16-18 miles 4x a week or in 4 days covering 16-18 miles?

I didn't attack anyone though...they find me.

Except you're not a cyclist, yet have some delusional definition of a cyclist. I bet if you asked people that you consider cyclist, they'd laugh in your face based on your definition. No you don't attack anyone, you just troll and made idiotic statements on subjects that you have no clue about. Again, how do you perform a track stand? It should only take about three sentences to explain how to do so.

I don't cycle now, I have no need...for 3 years my only car was my Marin at University of Florida. We had some great trails along with the one down where I live now (West Palm Beach @ Southern and 441, but it's now a strip mall).

Google track stand if you want an answer, no matter how I explain it I am sure there will be a debate.

I still don't know what Semi-Professional is in sports...either you are sponsered/paid or not. Is this a self-proclaimed title?

You're kidding right? You rode a bike for several years around a college campus and you're a cyclist. Do you even know how to do a track stand and for how long? Too funny.

You obviously don't know anything about competitive mountain bike racing nor know the terminology. Being a know it all, you should know what semi-professional means. You should know the different racing classes. You should know how the national MTB racing series format works. Yes, I was sponsored by a local bike shop, Cycle Loft.

Seriously, stop posting about subjects you know zero about.

I ride with a friend of mine who is Cat 1 (Finished in the top 20 in the 200 mile race at Lotoja this year-ride time under 10 hours). He can track stand but he really doesn't do it all the time when riding. I ride with him almost weekly and I'd say he does a track stand maybe once or twice on a ride, the rest of the time he unclips one foot at lights...as do most cyclists.

People buy certain vehicles based on safety features. Why do bicyclists feel safe enough to ride out there completely unprotected among some of the stupidest people in 2-ton machines? Y'all are very brave... or ______.

For your ignorance, the NORBA Rankings Program Technical Description

Notice, the different classes listed. Now, don't post again til you have a clue what you're talking about.

That's NORBA, you didn't say you were in NORBA, just you are a semi-professional bike racer.

Now you have since stated XC and later now adding with NORBA.

Why would I need to add NORBA? Any cyclist would know that mtb racing is under the NORBA umbrella. B/c of your ignorance of the subject, I need to spoon feed you. Stop being stupid. Oh wait, you can't help it.

edit - I really hope this isn't an attempt to act like you have a clue. I bet you've never even heard of NORBA til now. Again you've been pwn'd.

No I didn't say I don't know how to track stand. I said for you to look it up as no matter what I say you will challenge it. Most of the you can actually wiki it and like I had said if you know what you are doing you can hold one forever.

There are exceptions. If you are obviously downhill then it's going to be probably impossible...if you are on a totally flat surface as well.

Anyways I didn't know a real MTB'r can be such a whiner.

I have nothing more to say to you or Jules...you obviously will keep inventing a new story as each part is questioned of your current one.

/thread Follow the rules of the road and don't be a pest to motor vehicles. ANY REAL CYCLIST KNOWS THAT THOUGH. You can talk until you are blue in the face about being oppressed by motorists....get over it or bike somewhere else you feel safer.

Dude, take a St. John's Wort or something.

Wish I had never even mentioned that stopping at a stoplight was an opportunity to practice your trackstand. JEEZ FREAKING LOUISE.

BTW, 2 folks were killed this last week and did not live in SFO or were they at a red light. :(

Lee Anne Barry and Tom Hoskins were killed when hit by the driver of an SUV

Again, talking about things you don't know anything about. Impossible to perform a track stand while facing downhill or a flat surface? Are these 'real cyclist' that you talk about that track stand at red lights bike only uphill? If you're any good any doing a track stand, you can easily perform one downhill and on a flat surface. Go look at some Trials vids. I bet you don't even know what trials biking is.

Keep posting, it's amusing. No whining here, just spending time to debunk your lame definition of a 'real cyclist' and your other ignorant cycling comments.

BTW, as a previous pro and regional amateur champion, I think Semi-Pro is a dumb term. Surfing rules between am and pro were pretty clear. Take $1, you are pro. After just that one dollar, it was a year of not competing and taking any money to become amateur again. I guess semi-pro takes Monopoly money? ;)

Should have stayed amateur. Did not even make that $1 after going pro (moving to Atlanta really did not help much :D )

16-18 miles 4x a week. Best average speed is a hair over 17Mph including two grueling climbs.
