what nvidia drivers to i need. i dont really want to install beta drivers, and its asking me to. do i need this? or can i use 71.89?
I think the beta 77.30 drivers fix the shadow problems. If you don't want to use the beta drivers, I think you can turn down the shadows so you don't see the blocky shadow errors.
I installed the 77.30 drivers, I haven't noticed any problems with them on my 6600GT.
EDIT: note that I didn't install them when it asked me to, I installed them the same way I install every new nvidia driver. Removed current driver, then reboot to safe mode, run driver cleaner 3, then reboot again, then install the new driver and final reboot.

I would also like to know what's going on here, because I bought an X800XL just to play this game.
Actually I was just reading some other forums and people with the latest catalyst have been having problems, and rolling back to 5.1 sometimes helps. When I install my card this afternoon I'll be installing the 5.1 drivers first.
Well, i got BF2 to go in widescreen... you need to go into the properties of the shortcut, and add this:
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200
* changing the 1920 and 1200 to whatever resolution you want

looks pretty awesome here... x800 Pro, 1280x960 4xAA. I see this game consuming the rest of the summer.
I was shooting guys like crazy early this morning and I would see the hit indicator go off but it took ridiculous amounts of firepower to kill them. That was frustrating me.
But my BIG question is other than using the Q key for commands where are all of the canned voice commands like the other two BF's had?? My functions keys don't do sh!t. Only using Q brings up some stock responses and pleas.

You have to stand still for like 3 seconds before you fire.. it's not like CS unfortunately where you need a slight pause. Oh well. Also aim for the head or it takes 2 shots to kill.
