Beware the ripoff - 2CoolTek

Hi all,

I want to warn people about buying products from a small Florida business called 2CoolTek, which sells (you guessed it) cooling products. I ordered a ThermalTake Blue Orb fan from this guy (a 1-man operation), and not only did it break two days after its arrival, I was told I had to ship it back at my OWN expense.

So I shipped at back, at almost half the expense of the product itself. Skip ahead 4 months. He has ignored 5 increasingly urgent, but always civil, emails. He has refused to return two phone calls to his office. And most recently, after I posted on his message board in the "order-related difficulties" section, he deleted my two posts and banned me from further posting - all entirely without communication.

I can only conclude he is willfully stealing my money. Therefore I would urge you all to be very, very careful about buying from him.

Thanks for listening. Oh, and if any of you have similar tales of woe, don't hesitate to share them - as Calvin, of "Calvin and Hobbes" fame, quotes, "Nothing helps a bad mood like spreading it around." =)

I've ordered from him in the past on numerous occasions. I've never once had a problem with him. He even went out of his way to ship to me via USPS when he ships via FedEx now.

Hope you can clear things up with him.
 
Sorry to hear you're having difficulties- but i've ordered over 10 times from 2cooltek and have been more than satisfied. I've gotten great support and prompt shipment. Hopefully everything will be cleared up with him or there's another side to the story. I'm sorry about sounding a bit skeptical but dozens of members of this board have ordered from him w/o problems.

Are you saying that you shipped the product, he received it, and over 4 months has not shipped out a replacement or extended a refund? If it really came down to it, you could always dispute the charge with your CC company.
 
You might want to give them a little more time on this; 2cool is a formerly valued member of this forum (I haven't seen him around in a while, though), and has always given me great service - I've sent literally hundreds of dollars in cooling orders his way.

I've also had good experiences with 2cooltek.. Although I think sometimes he can get overwelmed with orders and he takes a while to get things done, so that may be what you are running into. Although if the problem is as you described it should have been resolved a long time ago. 2cooltek is a pretty well respected business, I wonder what the problem is here.. I would like to hear his side of the story... but if it truly is as you described as I said it should have been resolved a long time ago...

As for the returning of the original product, thats pretty much standard practice for all mail order businesses..

i find that hard to believe.. i'm sure not all transactions go smoothly, but if something like that happened, i can't see why Ian wouldnt correct the problem..

i've ordered from him numerous times in the past.. recently ordered a Alpha PAL8045 heatsink/fan, shim, fan filters and AS3. no problems at alll.. past purchases have included copper mini-orb, whole bunch of sunon case fans, grills, shim, alpha Pal35 (or someting like that) for my old celeron466.. never had a single problem... i'd recommend him to any of my friends.

and im not trying to discount what happened with 2cooltek, but your first post, and you're slamming someone.. *shrug*
 
It's the guy's first and only post, so you can't give too much credibility to it. I've ordered over $500 worth of cooling equipment from that place, both for personal and work use, and I've never had a problem.
 
I've ordered way too many times from Ian to count. He's always responded to my emails, even if they are just looking for info on a product.

Now, that doesn't mean that Ian is perfect... However, I get the feeling that we aren't hearing the WHOLE story.
 
good point, this is his first and only post, so how good could this info be? or is he/she just trying to put down 2CoolTek?
 
Sorry but I have ordered from 2CoolTek before and loved the service. I even placed the order on the phone and it was a great transaction.

Well, that's the whole point. It isn't until you do have a problem that a retailer shows his true colors.

Before I knew any better I ordered from many a shady retailer, but beacuse I never had a problem I only consider myself lucky.
 
Whats with registering and posting this on your first thread??? You just out to slam him? If so get a life.

I ordered from him once or twice and didn't have a problem. Also almost no retailers/etailers pay return shipping, even if its near the cost of the product itself.

Can't say I had a good experience. Ordered two different cheap fans. One of them was the correct model I ordered, but the other was a completely different one that was in no way similar to the one I wanted. I just wanted the correct fan so I email to ask for a shipping mailer or shipping credit to return the wrong one. Well, I was flat out denied with a long winded story about how they would lose tons of money if they did this for every customer. Never mind the fact that it was their fault! Stunned beyond belief, I never bought anything there ever again.
