Sometimes ya gotta look past the big-budget films (although I did think SPR and BHD were good).

Zulu Dawn

Zulu Dawn? Wasn't it the sequel to the original Zulu? Haven't seen Zulu Dawn, but I have heard ALOT of bad things about it. Clearly, it's not as good as the original Zulu.

According to IMDB, it's actually a prequel, at least as far as the historical sequence goes. I have not seen the original, so I can't comment on it, but I thought ZD was pretty good (or maybe it was just the final battle that overwhelmed me, it's been awhile :) ).

What I meant by "sequel" is that it was made after "Zulu". I haven't seen it, but I assume that it was about the battle that took place before "Zulu". In that battle the Zulu got the rifles.

life is beautiful

I'm gonna have to second that. Life is Beautiful is one of my favorite movies of all time.
And I'm gonna have to disagree with those who say Thin Red Line is the best war movie. That movie was boring and tried way too hard to have some sort of artistic approach. It sucked
