JellyBaby - Never played any of the AoE series 😱. Games don't have the same feel with me anymore because I don't have the time to waste like I did as a teen 🙁. I am sure it is a superior game, but now when I play it I will have all this fricken stress in the back of my mind telling me I shouldn't be playing games 🙁. I can't wait until retirement 🙂

Well now that's not normal. We need a healthy dose of recreation or else we do truly suffer! I strongly suggestion buying 2 copies of Age Of Wonders...then call me in the morning. 🙂

JellyBaby - LOL... lets see your credentials before you prescribe those games 😛. I still have copies of Outcast, System Shock 2, Alpha Centauri that are un-opened on my games shelf! I still need to finish Grim Fandango! DOH

Another vote for the whole Jagged Alliance series.

If you are just getting into it, get Jagged Alliance 2 not the expansion JA2: Unfinished Business.
JA2 will keep you occupied with it's huge map and it's just so freaking fun.
The expansion is a lot smaller scale but get it for the downloadable campaigns from fan sites.

I recommend everyone at least give the demo a try.

Been playing Civilization III lately too, looking to try Age of Wonders II maybe. Any good?

Paul--Wowsers....thanks for the review compilation site. I gotta grab JA2......too much time spent on still playing Fallout: Tactics.

I was thinking there was a JA2 compilation pack, with some add ons? No?

No point in me playing JA is there?

Oh....another turn based game that I liked was The Lost Admiral, by QQP. QQP used to make good games, before they went under.

Crusader is some quick, hard action, no turns. X-Com is near and dear to my heart and will be my favorite turn based for a long time... well, JA2 might actually be better if you take away nostalgia.

Strategy First has the rights to the JA franchise now and has said they will be coming out with a JA2 Gold bundle eventually, and JA3 is supposed to be in development again. Woohoo!

I just got JA : Deadly Games (the second JA1 game) and it's pretty crude compared to JA2. I'd say stick with JA2 and JA2 : UB (and user mods) instead of also getting JA1.

Master of Orion 2 is my all time favorite, nothing like a fleet of 1000 death stars to kick some major butt.

Heroes of Might and Magic 2 is a close second.
