I was thinking 2moro I get up at 6 , have some breakfast and go for a run.

What would you say the optimum time was ( for the body) to go for a run >?

I prefer running in the morning. I feel tired and sluggish all day if I don't exercise first thing in the morning.

Personally, when I have time, I like running at 1 or 2pm. My muscles just don't seem to carry me as far or as fast early in the morning. And for some strange reason, I like running during the hottest part of the day....

well in the morning it will jump start your metabolism which will likely lead to more calorie burning and more energy through out the day.

Somtimes I find at night, funny enough after work, when I do feel tired, I seem to have that extra 2 , 3 miles in me. Maybe because over the course of the day water and food have been on the intake...

Maybe early morning runs set your metablisim (spelling I know) up better for the day ?

Early morning, slight metabolic increase, it isn't enough to justify moving your schedule around for it though.
Later in the afternoon is supposed to be worse as your body needs cool down period so you can sleep, if your too hot from working out it makes it difficult to sleep.

Other than that do whatever fits into your schedule best, consistency is by far the most important factor

During the week I run right after work or if I go to the gym I run on the tread mill in the evening, weekends I run in the morning or early afternoon. I like changing the times and the routes, it seems to keep things fresh.

I used to run 4 miles a day after work. It would tire me out for the evening. It probably made me feel more comfortable about kicking back in the evening.

Me thinks morning, something "good" about that sore feeling you get, that lingers with you for the rest of the day.

I prefer it first thing in the morning (around 0530).
After work I have too many other things to do and it gets put off.

Do cardio in a fasted state; without eating for eight hours. In the morning, your body will be very low on glycogen. Your body will use burn more fat this way.

Yes. I do it every morning, just like other people.

If you eat before cardio, your body will use the energy in the food you just consumed. What's the point in cardio?

Post-cardio, have a protein and fat meal or shake...no carbs! Your body will stop burning fat and immediately begin metabolizing the carbs.

1 - 1.5 hrs post cardio, eat a balanced protein, fat and carb meal. If you wait any longer than the 1 to 1.5 hrs, your body will then switch from burning the fat to a catabolic state; eating muscle! Oh noes!!!!!11

I was going to say something similar. I believe I read in some scientific journal that 3:17 AM is optimal.

I would not recommend running right after eating breakfast (or any other meal, for that matter).

This is wrong. Your body would just as well prefer to burn muscle if you run on an empty state.

Morning if you can wake up. Lately, I have trouble waking up early, so it's after work for me...
