dude, stfu.
why do people need to post spoilers all the time? diaff douchebag

Some people cannot take a joke with out J/k. I do enjoy the books, but I have no idea what the ending of the series will bring. Most likely "He who shall no be named dies."

The first book is Gardens of the Moon. Beats every other series that I have ever read. You can check out my Fark Profile to see the books I read last year.

Edit:

I pretty much only read series as it is.

i've already done the Goodkind, Martin, Jordan, Fiest, Eddings, Brooks, Hobbs, Donaldson, etc thing.

tried to get into Erikson based on recommendation from here (among other places), but i thought it was pretty much hack fantasy. maybe i'll revisit and change my mind, but i wasn't impressed.

The first book is a real hard read, it takes about 300 hundred pages before anything make sense but after that it is just amazing. If my friend hadn't been nagging me to keep reading I would have put it down but I couldn't put one down for the life of me. I've already read the entire series twice and the more times you read it the more you realize how much thought he put into his books. When I reread the first one I kept going, "now that makes way more sense."

Most of mine have already been mentioned. I'll add Lois McMaster Bujold's "Vorkosigan" series. It's not particularly deep, nor is it great literature, but I enjoyed reading it. It's #27 on that list posted above. http://www.iblist.com/series.php?id=32

Edit: I didn't notice anyone post the Hitchhiker's Guide series so I'll add that one as well.

man, what a bunch of predictable geeks ... nothing but sci-fi and fantasy. don't you guys ever get out?

by far, one of the best series of books ever written, and widely acknowledged by anyone who has read them, is patrick obrians jack aubrey/stephen maturin series. fantastic writing, extremely engaging characters, and an fascinating window into a different era. try master and commander, i guarantee, by the end of the book you'll be hooked!

I agree 100%. Best series I have ever read (read most in this genre).
I'm patiently waiting for the rest of the series to be distributed in the US.

my issue wasn't that it was a hard read. i just thought it was kinda derivative/hacky. maybe i just wasn't in the right mindset, or i've read too many fantasy novels.

THANK YOU!!!! HHGTTG are the funniest books ever. "we apologize for the inconvenience" lol

also, i read ender's game and ender's shadow, both great books. never read any past that, so not sure about the marxist circle jerk, but long live HHGTTG and death to the lame ass movie.

Anyone ever read the Farseer Triloty by Robin Hobb? Pretty good, but lower level (I read when I was younger, still a good book)

Not a trilogy, but I really liked Talion: Revenant (on of my all time favorites)

Didn't battlefield:Earth have a continuation? That is a great book with probably the WORST movie ever.

Talion was written by Michael Stackpole, same guy who wrote the X-Wing series of books. They were pretty good (not the greatest, but I read alot)

Agreed, but I just import the books from the UK or Canada.

I prefer the non-US covers, too.

the Malazan series is AMAZING.

But like azazyel said, the first book has a bit of a learning curve to it. Once you give it a chance and really get into the nitty gritty, it BLOWS YOUR MIND.

I hope the next book has some more Anomander Rake action

I agree with the Farseer Trilogy but did you read the sequels? If you've only read those then go right now and buy the Tawny Man Trilogy. It resumes the store about 10 years or so after the last Farseer book.

And I also ordered BoneHunters (Erikson) from the UK. It was worth the extra cost to get in a month early. Only 3 more months before Reaper's Gale comes out!!! I'm excided to see the Crimson Guard from book 5 get some more action. They cracked me up in that book. Rake is a bad mother and I can't wait to see what becomes of his sword.

Not exact but:

"Where we going captain?"
"To kill a god...shouldn't take that long."

I love those books, but I'm a sucker for naval stuff written about that period.

For those that love science fiction, check out the Honor Harington series by David Weber. The first one is On Basilisk Station.
