Bonehunters was a pretty sweet book, but still not as good as Memories of Ice. Now THAT was a book! Have you read the novellas? Night of Knives was AMAZING (and you should definitely read it BEFORE Bonehunters).

Reality Dysfunction, Nuetronium Alchemist, Naked God.
Its either 6 paperbacks or 3 hardcovers, depending on how you do it.
They're my favorite.

Also like the Seer King, Demon King, Warrior King books.
Good, gritty fantasy without the fairys and ****. Just a handful of really evil spells and thats it.

Will reread each when I get the time.
Thats the thing about good books. Every time you go back theres something new.

Also want to get into the Drizzt books one day. I hear they flesh out Forgotten Realms quite nicely. The only D&D books I've read were set in classic Mystara and didnt cover much background. I forgot the titles but they were about a guy who could turn into a dragon and didnt even know it in the first book. He also had a leggy blonde girlfriend and an uncle with one arm.
Come to think of it, even though I cant remember the names they would be my 3rd favorite series.

I love gritty stuff too. How do those books compare to George RR Martin's stuff?

Necroscope series by Brian Lumley is my favorite so far. Its has a bit of everything, ESP, vampires, espionage, sci-fi. etc

Rice's Vamp series is up there too atleast up to the 4th or 5th book.

Just read 3 of the Dragon Riders of Pern books and am waiting for another 3 to show up at the library. They have been pretty good so far.

If you just want some entertaining trash to read the Anita Blake series isn't bad either until around book 8 where she turns into a super whore. Its a Buffy the Vampire Slayer kind of thing so stupid but humours and entertaining.

Like Penthouse Letters whore or PG-13 whore?

As for the Demon King books: pretty gritty. Graphic sex and violence. Good stuff. I have NO idea how it compares to anyone elses stuff since I know zilch about authors.
I maybe know a couple of Stephen King books and thats only if they are movies.

Penthouse letters whore maybe even hardcore filthy low budget porno whore. They get really bad. Hardly any sex at all and then around book 8 plot takes a back seat to constant sex if there even is a plot anymore. And its really not the kind of sex a guy wants to read about since its from a chick point of view :).

Wilbur Smith's Courtneys in Africa series is great, and I also enjoyed the 'prequels'. Lee Child's Jack Reacher series, and Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child's Agent Pendergast books.

I only read "Healthy Dead", I'll have to pick up the Night of Knives.
