<< Die Hard, because it paved the way for all action movies >>

I thought that Ben Hur would be a better choice as having paved the way for action movies....

Some other top movie choices....

On the Waterfront
Rebel without a cause
The Birds (Alfred Hitchcock)
Wuthering Heighs (Lawrence Olivier version)

Glad to see that others have mentioned Lawrence of Arabia and Duck Soup, and that no one posted some trash like "Pretty Woman" or "Ghost" (both of which my mother holds as all-time favorites) :disgust:

Hmm, off the top of my head I'd say:

Matrix
Contact
Edward ScissorHands
The Shining
Jurrasic Park (original)
Titan A.E. (ok be quiet)

Oh and:
Beetlejuice (what no one liked this one?)

well well well, thanx for the recommandations, this really helped me to pick out few more movies for my choices in Netflix for some free movie rentals, believe it or not most of em were there in my choice but thanx for pointing out Frequency, almost missed it 😉

Well, for someone that didnt cry (forgot who) during movies, didnt u watch Saving private ryan? how can u not shed a tear when the mother falls on her front porch when those army ppl come? that's just impossible! 😉

Well for recent movies lot of them were said already but my favorite ones are HEAT and FightCLUB. From the good ol days my picks go to Indiana Jones(any of em), Casablanca (really really well made movie) , Once upon a time in china.. 1st one only, probably the best chinese movie I've ever seen, has real history(not in terms of characters or plot but in terms of what it was like during that time) in it, not too much crap like ppl flying around, shows good action, just perfect fit from start to end, that crouchin tiger is not even close.
If u have any questions or comments, feel free to tell me 😉

I like too many, how can people narrow it down to just one choice where they say that one movie is better than all the others?

Yojimbo, it's an old Japanese Samurai Movie by Akira Kurosawa, if you haven't seen it, you're missing out on the best ever!!!

It may not be the best movie of all time, but if I was stuck on a desert island with only 1 dvd (I'd probably take a porn disc) but if it wasn't porn, I'd want to have Star Trek II.

Hmmm... Pulp Fiction, Tombstone, GoodFellas, The Empire Strikes Back, Reservoir Dogs, Swingers, Almost Famous, Unforgiven, Ninja Scroll, Fargo, Billy Madison, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Usual Suspects.

Edit: I forgot A Hard Day's Night. 🙂

Last of the Mohicans
Saving private Ryan
Heat
Gladiator
Bullit(just for the car chase)
3 o'clock high
A christmas story
The green mile
Empire of the sun
Matrix
Little Buddah

Great movies were mentioned. I'd add two Italian movies from my top 10 list: Cinema Paradiso and Il Postino. The former is the best.

Curious how the lastest success is always mentioned as the best of all times. Best female singer ever: Nelly Furtado 😉

ditto
Cinema Paradiso is one of my favorites.
I have seen it more times than any other movie except Star Wars.

I can't get it down to one, but it is easy to say what the best ones are;

Queen of Hearts
La Strada
Lili
The Magician
Gigot
Pather Panchali
La Traviata

Too many to mention but here are a few:

Braveheart
The Matrix
Shawshank Redemption
Bad Boys (so many one-liners)
Star Wars Trilogy

--->forgot Time to Kill, excellent movie<---

The Light of Day with Michael J Fox and Joan Jett

and

Dead Heat with Joe Piscapo

Oh, you meant best.

I agree vehemently with GreenGhost and Glen, Cinema Paradiso is one of the best. But there are a lot of good ones on this thread.

Not the best movies of all time, but my favorites:

Matrix
Gladiator
Ronin
Hannibal
Something about Mary
Scary Movie
American Pie

I've never heard of Shawshank redemption, I'm gonna have to check it out.
