My vote goes towards Black Hawk Down...as some of you may know I am a fanatic with the book movie etc...I have written to ome of the soldiers etc...

there is full metal jacket
platoon
tears of the sun
top gun

just the first random three that come outt my mind...

what is your opinion?

my favorite too: Black Hawk Down
Sometimes i get scared to watch the movie again. its by far the scariest i have seen. (Yes, i dont get scared by any other movie, this is just a diff. sort of scary)

Blech...... why are so many people actually saying Black Hawk Down?

The book was GREAT, A+ loved it, the movie on the other hand was so annoying and chock full of "hollywood" moments and character fallacies it completely ruined the story.

Band of Brothers FTW.

I love The Patriot, We Were Soldiers, and Braveheart. Gettysburg was an excellent Civil War movie. The Dirty Dozen was an entertaining WWII movie. Saving Private Ryan was excellent as well.

So many to choose from ... as my DVD collection has about 50 war movies, however, I'm gonna have to go with what many have already said. Band of Brothers > *
Second favorite is a VERY tough choice. Some of my favorites are as follows, Schindlers List, Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War, Hotel Rwanda, Das Boot, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Tora Tora Tora, Patton, Full Metal Jacket, Braveheart, Glory, Spartacus, Memphis Belle, and also Saving Private Ryan.

I have this movie, but haven't watched it yet... maybe now I'll put a little more effort into getting around to it on your recomendation 🙂

far and away my favorite is full metal jacket. sheer genious

Some ones that haven't been mentioned:

The Big Red One was alright...

I liked the concept of the Final Countdown (but it was pretty cheezy)...

Sink the Bismark was decent

and sorry, IMO the John Wayne war flicks are even more fake than Black Hawk Down...stick to the cowboy movies Duke....

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room. "

The Longest Day
Band of Brothers
Platoon
Apocalypse now
Das Boot
Black Hawk Down

Dr. Strangelove was more about crazy people all hopped up on the anti-commie juice. Not exactly a war movie...

Top gun and the like are just sappy movies that aren't really about combat, but about actors portraying the tough guy attitude.
