As an over all Jeopardy player, Jennings might be better because how fast he buzzes in, this also helps him find more daily doubles and can bet heavily on them. When it is only Jeopardy trivial, Rutter owned Jennings when the questions got tougher for the Ultimate Tournament and speed wasn't a factor.
Rutter is the man at buzzing in. He's practically a machine in that regard. Hence, the term "Got Ruttered."
Also, I think the overall money won title will change hands a few times before all is said and done. Game shows will always want Rutter and Jennings to take part (1 vs. 100, Grand Slam). Jennings and Rutter are so close together, and so far above the third place guy, that I can see game shows hoping to pair them up luring them in with big purses.
