Jennings still takes the cake.

Rutter only surpassed Jennings because of the Ultimate Tournament of Champions.

As an over all Jeopardy player, Jennings might be better because how fast he buzzes in, this also helps him find more daily doubles and can bet heavily on them. When it is only Jeopardy trivial, Rutter owned Jennings when the questions got tougher for the Ultimate Tournament and speed wasn't a factor.

Rutter is the man at buzzing in. He's practically a machine in that regard. Hence, the term "Got Ruttered."

Also, I think the overall money won title will change hands a few times before all is said and done. Game shows will always want Rutter and Jennings to take part (1 vs. 100, Grand Slam). Jennings and Rutter are so close together, and so far above the third place guy, that I can see game shows hoping to pair them up luring them in with big purses.

Anyone know the reference without googling it?

White Man Can't Jump

Winner! Except if YOU were on Jeopardy, you would have been shot down by Alex for that answer. Its actually White Men Can't Jump

🙂

Sorry, you'd be shot down too. It's actually "What is, 'White Men Can't Jump'" 😀

Stole my response 😀

Rutter. But Jennings did win Grand Slam... beating out that ogre guy who said he didn't know the answers but used is brain powers to figure them out. I never really understood what it meant, but they had a blackboard with some boxes on it for proof.

Rutter because of the answer that kicked Jennings out.

From Ken-jennings.com

No, seriously. You really didn't know H&R Block?
Many people have been kind enough to tell me how easy they thought my final question was. And it's true, this was the kind of question that many people, millions of people, would know instantly. I lost on the humanizingly easy, "Can you believe he doesn't know this one?" question, just like John Turturro ("Don't make me lose on Marty!") did in Quiz Show. But quite honestly, I could have thought about this question all day and not come up with the right answer. Here's how they asked it: "Most of this firm's 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only four months a year." For some reason, tax season never even occurred to me. I assumed the answer would have something to do with summer or the holiday season. That's what I get for always doing my own taxes, I guess.

I want to see a 1on1 battle between these guys on Jeopardy, no third guy involved at all.

First of all, Grand Slam is a flawed show. Secondly, the questions there aren't nearly as challenging as Jeopardy's.

Larissa has $42,200 entering Final Jeopardy! :Q If she doubles up, she'll set the one-day record, but it's unlikely because her opponent has $18K.

update: She wins with $45,200. During the game, she bet $8,000 on a science Daily Double, and $7,000 on a Shakespeare Daily Double. She also cleaned up the movies category. Pretty well-rounded, and cute too.

I personally thought she was cute in the über nerdy way.
