So we all know about Ken Jennings, his 74 game winning streak, and the $3m+ he's earned by being on Jeopardy.

Lesser known however is Brad Rutter, who has earned even more money than Ken Jennings, has never lost in an appearance, including when he went toe to toe with Ken.

He's on a Tournament of Champions, the Million Dollar Masters tourney, and the ultimate tournament of champions.

Still, even though he never had the opportunity to do so, he did not win 74 in a row, most of which were in dominating fashion, and become the most legendary Jeopardy player ever. Also, Jennings lost to Rutter after receiving a "bye" until the final round, so no doubt rust must've been a factor--whereas Rutter was well oiled in the final game..

Rutter played in the 5 day limit era, he could probably last much longer if there was no limit. The 74 game streak is still amazing, you have to be lucky in final jeopardy when you don't have a lock game.

too close to call. jennings streak was magnificent, but we will never know if brad could match that performance. nonetheless, brad beat him head to head which cannot be disregarded.

id like to see a week of them head to head + some wannabe.

also, my cousins husband knows brad. true story

Jennings still takes the cake.

Rutter only surpassed Jennings because of the Ultimate Tournament of Champions.

As an over all Jeopardy player, Jennings might be better because how fast he buzzes in, this also helps him find more daily doubles and can bet heavily on them. When it is only Jeopardy trivial, Rutter owned Jennings when the questions got tougher for the Ultimate Tournament and speed wasn't a factor.

Yes, Brad Rutter did win more money than Ken Jennings, but didn't most of that money come from the one win in the tournament of champions where he beat Jennings?

He basically did what he had to do though, he's never lost a Jeopardy appearance, has 3 championships under his belt--whereas Jennings has none, and has lost two appearances.

I'm surprised at the poll results so far though, I figure Rutters dominance over Jennings would surely elevate him above him.

I think a proper sports analogy would be to think of the Patriots/Colts up until last year. While the Colts were putting up the more spectacular seasons, going 13-0, Manning w/ the TD pass record, and overall dominating their opponents, it was always the Pats that won the Super Bowls, and won when it mattered.

Jennings accomplishments are more amazing and historic, but Rutter just did what he had to do, and it's hard to argue with his results..
