As long as the ones near me stay open, I don't really care. I don't mind paying a premium for higher quality food.

Okay, I thought this thread was about the "best chain sub shop." But, now you're talking about seeking out higher quality food??! Chain sub shops are mostly about one thing - being able to get food that's relatively consistent from one location to another location hundreds of miles away. As far as "higher quality food" - I'd think that most people would agree that those three words don't belong together in almost any thread about chain restaurants of any type. Example from a related area - even Dominos admitted that their original pizza sucked - yet they were a really popular chain. People eat there mostly because of marketing and knowing what to expect - adequate, and relatively consistent quality. Not "higher quality."

Having had their peppercorn steak sandwich, I can disagree on all points. Their food is not the same as subways, their stores are cleaner, they do heat their food, and yes, the price is more, but we're all wealthy on AToT and can afford it. The peppercorn steak is so good.

I've figured it out! this thread is populated by ketchup eaters! You guys' taste buds are so fucked. :(

I've had the "peppercorn" sub. It was probably one of the first sandwiches of theirs that I had. it was....bad. quite bad. slimy, rubbery, bland, tasted like sodium.

I don't expect anyone to understand what Dr Pizza said above, but you are all slaves to marketing. You want to believe that it is better, because the either pricing or marketing has lead you to believe that such is possible.

This is not the case, unfortunately. :\

Mr. Subb, I didn't realize that they are a local chain, and they have a webpage designed by a web developer stuck in the early 90's.

Good sandwiches though, more meat than subway, awesome jalapeno cheddar nuggets.

There's a pretty good number of them in Michigan and Indiana, not sure how many beyond that.

I believe they have them in Wisconsin and Minnesota, too. shame, b/c they truly are the best in this bunch of fast food-sub shops. You kind of want these places to show up everywhere b/c they are so damn good, but then you worry about quality suffering.

Bojangles is the undisputed grand champion of fried chicken franchises, but exclusive to the Southeast--mostly NC & SC. Northern Florida has them now, but it is a slow expansion considering that they are 3 decades+

I'm a big fan of Capriotti's. I guess it's a Delaware/Philly thing, but they have a few locations in Vegas. I go there everytime I'm in town.

Quizno's, and it's not even close. Potbelly's would be my 2nd, but it's not on there.

And a happy side effect of Quizno's being a bit pricy is that it keeps the trashy clientele that Subway attracts out. Nothing against those of you that prefer Subway...

Every Quiznos I have seen uses cheap low quality nasty meats. Also they have far fewer options as far as condiments and veggies to put on the sub than subway.

Well I didn't say "high quality," I said "higher quality." But I agree.

Out of all those, Lenny's is by far my favorite. Best tasting bread, fresh cut meat and great ice tea. Jersey Mike's is probably second, but usually the bread is a little dry. We also had sandwich chain in Ohio called Penn Station that is probably at the top of my list as well.

I can't believe all of these nasty places getting so many votes. Places like Subway and Quiznos, should not be getting any votes.

The only ones out of those that I've ever seen is Subway and Quiznos. I really don't like Subway so I'd have to choose Quiznos.

But we're talking about chain restaurants. I'm not familiar with more than 4 of them. I've eaten at each of those 4. Why? Generally because I'm unfamiliar with the places around & know that if I go into subway, I'll have my food in 5 minutes or less. Mom & Pop places could be anywhere from 2 minutes to 15 minutes. I know exactly what quality from subway to expect - edible food. Unfamiliar mom & pop places? Might be awesome, might suck.

So, on a 1 to 10 sub scale, 10 being an awesome sub, 1 being inedible, I'll happily settle for the 5 that Subway offers for a decent price.

Subway tied with Jimmy Johns? No fuckin way. Subway tastes like soggy dog shit in comparison. The bread is what makes or breaks it, and Jimmy Johns has killer bread.

Wow, so many votes for subway.

I will never trust any ATOT recommendation for food again.

Subway is absolutely disgusting.

People on here say Chipotle is the greatest thing ever, that alone should have sealed the deal.

haha I know, I was totally surprised when I saw the poll results as well.

Out of the places I have tried on that list, I picked Firehouse. When I was going to school there was one right next door, I had every sandwich on the menu I think and I liked them all. Plus they have like 60 different bottles of hot sauce you can use as well which is nice :D

There's no rhyme and reason to ATOT, Chipotle, Quiznos & Subway = t3h wins. But Olive Garden = a pile of crap!

Olive Garden isa filthy pile of crap, Quebert.

Chipotle is godly when ti comes to reasonably-priced quality food prepared quite quickly.

teh problem with ATOT is that no one here seems to understand the concept of value. Or, at the very least, have no perception in the differences between real value and marketing.

I like Subway b/c it is no worse than Quiznos. no way and hell. Quiznos costs about 50-60% more, and I've yet to find a Quiznos that is not a filthy cess pool employing stoners that will fuck up your order.

I don't consider that value.

Potbelly is delicious and should be on the list.

That said, Firehouse Subs is yummy, but voting for it almost felt like betraying Jimmy Johns, home of the drunken late-night snack (on campus it was right on Main Street, literally between all the popular bars, and open until 3am. Hell, they even delivered if you were too lazy).
