I have to go with Bill Russell over Jordon, though the two really can't be compared- diffrent games from different eras. But Russell saw 11 championship banners hoisted to the rafters in the old Boston Garden, which I think gives him a microscopic edge. Maybe this list should be best player of all time by position.

i havnt really got to see wilt play, so i must say its either Jordan or Magic...
where does all this shaq bashing stem from? he could be a little one dimensional at times, but he gets the job done and gets done well. for a player of that size to be so quick and be agile is quite significant in my book! just look at sabas 😛

Hakeem the Dream. i'm a little biased though, being from Houston 🙂

Defensive Player of the Year, Regular Season MVP, Finals MVP all in 1994.
Had one of the best series ever against then MVP David Robinson in the Western Conference Playoffs, bringing Robinson to the brink of tears in a post game interview

Ya know, basketball sucks now. The NBA of today pales in comparison to the NBA of Magic, Bird and Jordan. Now it's all isolation and 1 on 1, nobody runs the break like Magic's Lakers--nobody played harder and with more guts than Bird, and Jordan was incredible (and I never really cared for him).

I used to watch multiple games a week--now I sometimes watch the last few games of the Finals. It's pathetic really.

they play too much defense now. Magic was never the greatest defensive player you know..., kobe on the other hand is all nba defense 2nd team i think. Coaches are controlling the games too much, i think there aren't enough good point guards.

Joe Dumars once said that Jordan was the best player who ever played because he was physically, mentally and emotionally superior to all other players. Joe definetly has the credentials to make such a statement, being that he defended Jordan perhaps as good as anyone can, and having a pretty good career himself...
