well like most anime, the ending was very disappointing/(WTF was that?) in WR. I'm guessing maybe the manga was better but I haven't seen that.

I personally stopped watching anime for almost a year since I didn't see anything that was good but Tenjou Tenge
and Gantz really brought me back since they were that good.

too bad the manga aren't finished...

prince of tennis sucks, its just stupid

naruto started in 2002 it doesnt count, GSD has liek 3 eps out so its hard to tell yet, FMA started in 2003 also

i agree with most of what VanillaH said, but possibily not in that order, 2x2=Shinobuden, is funny and good but not #1 IMO

and im prob teh only one thats seen more then 1/2 the stuff on that list

then again, new shows on my list are only up to eps 4-5 altho thats like almost 1/3 way thru for some of them. well you can tell most of my favorites are either comedy or drama.. never imagined they would make something even more brilliant than GA - something i have been paitently waiting for about a year :laugh: dont get me wrong tho, it was a tough call; GA is a class act in its own light. too bad the series is finished and there wont be any more sequels, makes me wonder what would happen to Broccoli

have you actually seen it? i will admit there were some of the parodys i thought kinda funny at first, but only came to fully appreciate after talking to other people (like the Arcade Gamer Fubuki reference in eps1). so many little things go unnoticed unless you pay attention. for instance, in the ninja mansion, they have a frame on the wall (which is supposed to have precepts of the organization by tradition) with letters that read 'shuchinikurin' (sumptuous feast or to debauch, words to live by ). another example : they are not allowed to display names of real brands in anime series, which forces the anime makers to come up with names like "Ncdonals" or "Buji TV"; in shinobuden, instead of 'pocky', they were munching on 'bocky' (erection) thats what i call a great naming sense :laugh:

well he didn't state that in his original post. he just said best anime series of 2004. And they ran thru 2004.

depends on what you like? overall 'quality' or completeness shinobuden and mai hime were outstanding. daphne had some of best plot development i have seen and an interesting future world setting. boukyaku was a typical gainax work heavy with ambiguous symbolisms (not necessarily having fixed meanings) and great music, unique drawing. want something realistic and controversial? try koi kaze - not sure if it is fansubbed in english tho. syura no toki has some good action scenes here and there and a great atmosphere for a figting genre. well they all have strong points and none of them will dissapoint
