Yeah, sorry, but you and all the rest are just grasping at straws. He already will be labeled as a jerk for ever more, so it doesn't really matter what he does. I don't like the man much at all, but there was nothing wrong with what he did. Set an example? Yeah, because walking off the field after you've basically had the wind knocked out of you is so much worse than cheating, or dressing like a hobo, or being an a-hole. Please, people need to stop with this "set an example, be a role model" crap.

go ahead and give him a free pass, but kids across America watched the Super Bowl and asked their parents why Belichick left the field before the game was over.
i guess when the going gets tough they should do like Belichick did and just leave rather than finish it out.
 Your argument, like you, is so full of shit. You actually want us to believe that you are thinking of the kids?

Yeah it is. Pretty much entirely.

no, it isn't.

Yes it is.

Look, I understand a lot of people, especially on this forum, think that sports matter. It's adorable, and I'm glad you have something to divert you. I enjoy watching a good football game myself - but it stops there.

People have turned this whole thing into a soap opera or political issue. Half of you would vote for the candidate promising to give Belichick the chair, the other half would vote for the candidate that would put a statue of Brady in DC.

Discussion was warranted the day of and the day after, but it's over now, but now you're just grasping at the most feeble straws you can find.

"He walked off before time was up" - completely out of context
"I didn't like his tone in the press conference" - Tough shit?
"What if his team had left with him?" - Don't open the what-if can of worms. I'm sure Pats fans have plenty of what-ifs they'd love to share.

They merged all the threads on this stuff for a reason - because it's one topic, it's over now, and a small portion of morons who are every bit as annoying as Patriots fans were during the season won't let it die so we can move on to our next meme of the moment or new hilarious/shocking video.

If your goal is to be as annoying and look as stupid as Patriots fans, congrats, mission accomplished.

Oh yeah, kids across America were traumatized because he left early

If your children are so poorly parented that a professional sports team' actions during a game actually influence their lives and personalities, what Belichick does doesn't really matter. You're going to end up with trouble down the line for completely different reasons.

how are you saying what he did shouldn't be criticized?

damn right it should be criticized and it should be noted at what a poor sport and an asshole belichick is.

and then he flat out lies about it.
Well according to "people" like you and Mosh.

yes, "people" like me and mosh ...

i haven't heard ANY other people criticizing him, other than people on ESPN, Comcast Sports Net, Fox Sports, and CNN.

but yah, I guess they are just "people" like me and mosh ...

Regardless of what one thinks about it, I think it's hillarious to suggest that he didn't know there was still time left. He's been a head coach for 12+ years - he's not that oblivious to what's going on on the field.

You have got to be kidding? There are a lot of people who should be criticized about being a role model before Billy boy here (honestly, what kid looks up to a coach as a role model, they're all about the players). Again, you're just grasping at straws and stop with the nanny, we need other people for our kids to look up to BS. There's plenty of positive role models, its not our fault parents are too stupid to inform their kids about them (or be one themselves). At first I just disagreed with your argument, now I think its pathetic that you actually are so serious about it and are trying to pull the "think of the children" line.

Yeah, no kidding. Her little boy was so traumatized he had to listen to every single Lil John album he owned before he felt better!

Yeah, and if you haven't noticed, that thread is destroyed by all of the merging and discussing anything in it is no longer possible.

This is a forum. People post what they want to discuss. If people want to discuss the same thing hundreds of times, then that's what happens. It's not your forum to decide that certain posts shouldn't be made, so it'd be great if you stopped crying.

QFT.

i have to agree. pulling "think of the children" bullshit is just stupid. it is nto going to effect kids at all. they see worse crap during the game (though i am impressed i didnt see many nasty plays or any fights (but was half drunk in the 2nd half heh)).

The guy is a sore loser and quite classless; It's pretty funny how some people here are still trying to massage Patriot balls. 18-1.

What difference does it make if he watched the other team take a knee? Stupid thing to make an issue of, really.

Empathy? His team went 18-1 this season while continually and intentionally running up the score against lesser opponents. Why should anyone feel sorry for him? Yeah, losing the Super Bowl was a disappointing loss but if they had won would you tell Tom Coughlin that everything is hunky-dory because the Patriots were not disappointed? They won 18 games this season, how is that not an accomplishment? It's not this sole incident, it's the fact that Belichick has been the same way the whole season. Would it be okay if Tom Coughlin acted like a prick just because his team didn't have as good of a record? Empathy my ass.

I don't feel a bit bad. Someone had to lose and you can't pity either team because it was them. That's sports. That's competition.

Hey neither you nor I are good hearted people so we might not have empathy for him but then neither of us claimed to be good hearted, we are both biased sport fans but I think we both also know that making a big deal out of this is nonsense andextremely petty.

Why, exactly, are you trying to tell me that I'm not good-hearted? I consider myself very good-hearted. Enough to know that someone has to lose and you might as well be respectful and thank people for the opportunity and congratulate as much of the coaching staff as you can for their accomplishments in defeating the Goliath that they played against.

Aside from that, making a big deal of of anything is pretty much ATOT... forums... and the internet in a nutshell.
