Op you need to open your mail. Plus to garnish your wages your employer would be involved. Once I got the order to garnish wages I immedietly talked to my employee to both confirm and let them know.

With that income and lack of financial sense you should be incredibly embarrassed.

OP said he makes $2700 net per month

It was confusing at first as he said it "per paycheck", but yeah $2700 net every two weeks is a lot different than netting that monthly esp. if they did the monthly math correctly (~$1250 every two weeks)

Exactly. I have over $15,000 per month in expenses in just five areas: house, car, kid's school, taxes, and health insurance. Once you add in all our other expenses, it becomes obscene.

Seriously, you got a dell dude?

There's a lot of LOL in here about paying your debt. You said F it for a reason in the first place, sounds like a good reason to me. Tool it around and bend over backwards to payback this BS if you want, I'd keep that middle finger extended towards anyone telling you that you should feel ashamed for not paying this. Don't pay it and tell collection and the court to get bent. Everybody knows collection agencies and anyone associated with the court system are 99% jack offs. You are suppose to sweat non compliance with some of the biggest jack offs the world has ever spewed out? Come on. Let em garnish if needed.

Credit is already screwed so that will help with keeping you out of further debt for other junk you want to buy.

Sounds like you were stressing this ordeal, hope you are not anymore one way or the other.

lol

pay your debt deadbeat.

Also - ask a finance forum if you want real results. There could be legalities over mispelling your name, etc...

I'm so glad I do shit like check the mail everyday... and not get buried in debt...

Drop a $2k-3K house payment and another $1K for vehicle payments; $500/month for insurance and a $2-3K month for a childs' tuition (college or private school) and it starts adding up. That does not even include social expenses.

One must keep up with the Jones :p

QFT, plus a nominal retirement savings and if you are supporting a family even at $100k can put people just outside paycheck to paycheck.

Best post combination ever! Eagle's mocking people who choose to budget exactly paycheck to paycheck, and Alky's saying that's the standard way of life. Interesting snapshot of different views on finances in America.

If you don't show up for court, yes you can get a warrant on you. Trust me, the last thing you want to do is blow off the matter and hope it goes away.

Edit: From experience, I know people can go to jail over civil debt. I work for a collection agency that also has a law firm.

Well I know in Texas this isn't the case. People will not go to jail for unpaid debt. However other states have been increasing debtors prisons again, and I did find this article. Looks like Texas and only a handful of states protect people from this nonsense.

Oh one more thing, if your being sued and don't show for court, they are not going to come get you or arrest you. All that will happen is you will get a judgement against you, and could possibly have your wages garnished.

Yea they have great warranty service. I had a laptop fixed and replaced by them many times. The people come out to your house and fix whatever they need to. And if you wipe it of all the crapware, it will last.

Where is the lol? Never was beyond my means at that time. It was approaching it not by my choice but I adapted and figured it out.

Perhaps using cinder blocks as jack stands is equally funny to you.

I only read the first few posts of that thread, but not by choice? Wasn't it your choice to BUY that house?

Don't even bother. Granted, contingency planning isn't most peoples' strong suit, but I'm sure many more excuses will be levied for this particular case.

The house wasn't the problem, it was $40k plus of school loans going from 5-6% to 26.99%

I just took cash and paid it off and increased my salary through training
