maybe LOL, i'd just buy something cheap to play around with

then if you get serious about it you can look for something in 6 months or so that better meets your need

Maybe I'll get something that has both light-up and touch sensitive keys.
Edit:
Perhaps the Yamaha EZ220?

Did you ever say whether $100 or $200 is tight for your budget?

If it's not you're probably overthinking this.

I can afford to get the Amazon YPT-360 with kit for $235, And get the sustain pedal along with a decent pair of headphones. I can also buy a few books as well.

Someone correct me on this, but Electronic Music Keyboards are basically Synthesizers with a piano type keyboard. With the really advance models can be used in place of stand alone Synths.

Is this right?

If it has a USB port, you can probably plug it into your PC and use VSTs to do whatever you want with it. I'd think most new models would support this.

Well both the Casio CTK 3500 and the Yamaha YPT 360 do have a USB port and that this is something I want.

From some reviews I read it seems that both will take me quite far before I will need to upgrade to more advanced models.

Connectivity to computer doesn't do much if you are just learning to play.

Then don't buy a 200 dollar one...
Well I have to get something I can afford.

Does anyone know anything about playing music myself instead of just listening to it can improve my mental health?

Question: Do I need a sound card if I hook this up to my computer or is the on board sound good enough? However for I would just need to transfer music to and from the system and maybe convert them to FLAC files.

There is a music shop just across the street from City Hall well next too from me. I might go there today or tomorrow and see what they have in keyboards.
