Sound test from Casio and Yamaha. But it doesn't say which models.

i've had both a casio 61 key and yamaha 76 key and thought both of them were good for what i needed

maybe LOL, i'd just buy something cheap to play around with

then if you get serious about it you can look for something in 6 months or so that better meets your need

Maybe I'll get something that has both light-up and touch sensitive keys.

According to this Yamaha specs page the YPT 360 does come with a music rest, although the Amazon page doesn't mention one.

I consider one to be a must have so feature I can at least put instruction books on it.

I can afford to get the Amazon YPT-360 with kit for $235, And get the sustain pedal along with a decent pair of headphones. I can also buy a few books as well.

Someone correct me on this, but Electronic Music Keyboards are basically Synthesizers with a piano type keyboard. With the really advance models can be used in place of stand alone Synths.

Is this right?

If it has a USB port, you can probably plug it into your PC and use VSTs to do whatever you want with it. I'd think most new models would support this.

Well both the Casio CTK 3500 and the Yamaha YPT 360 do have a USB port and that this is something I want.

From some reviews I read it seems that both will take me quite far before I will need to upgrade to more advanced models.

I read the article and watch the video on it and I'm now convinced that learning to play helps the brain in many area.

Well it sure I will be have lot's of fun come next month.

Question: Do I need a sound card if I hook this up to my computer or is the on board sound good enough? However for I would just need to transfer music to and from the system and maybe convert them to FLAC files.

There is a music shop just across the street from City Hall well next too from me. I might go there today or tomorrow and see what they have in keyboards.
