Hey! Don't knock this one! I did this back in the 60's or 70's. I've never used it to try to get any tax breaks or anything else, but it has one redeeming social grace. You can legally marry your friends! 😀
I've done it for a few of my closest friends, and there are very few things I can think of that have given me more pleasure than to be able to participate in their joy on this level. What a rush! 😀

Seems like we post this hot deal about once a year, but I have something of value to contribute this time...
Well, last time I signed up, I got a notification but never got the actual certificate.
Regardless, these things do come in handy, as a couple got married over the radio last night. The lady had one of these certificates and married these two people who had just met for the first time 10 minutes before going on the air, and the hosts are sending them to Hawaii. I think the marriage has to last 2 months or so... can't remember all the details of the contract.
Instead of "... as long as you both shall live," it was "... as long as you both shall agree."
That struck me as a little odd.

Yea, I got ordained with a friend a few years back. Thought about it from reading Hunter S. Thompson. In anycase, my friend preformed to service for my wife and I, and as far as I know, we are still legally married. He had to pay about $30 for materials, but for a few more dollars you can get offical cards with titles like Doctor of Immortality, or Doctor of Motivation.
